Early session with Joseph Arthur this morning as he's doing a couple of songs for a video recording @ Fargo store for a Blue velvet session. First song is "I miss the Zoo" (if I get it right!) and second song is a Van Halen cover from the "Fair warning" album called "Mean Street".
He also did an interview but we left before.

Europe , Press Conference @ Hard Rock café , Paris May 09 2012

Swedish hard Rockers EUROPE are doing a press conference today in Paris

to promote new album Bag of bones and their show @ Bataclan in November.


In fact NO, It wasn't a press conference (that's what they said on their facebook page) , just interviews on the first floor of the Hard Rock Café in Paris between 2:00pm & 4:00pm.
so we didn't stay.

Special promotional concert on this election day with Plugged mag for Belgium band Trigger Finger. It's been a long time since we've been to an afternoon show, doors are opening @ 4:00pm and there's already a small gathering of dedicated fans outside the bar/club @ 114 Rue Oberkampf.
First we have English Garage /Punk/Rock'n Roll band The Computers for a kicking ass set of ...Garage/Punk/Rock'n Roll music.The singer is doing the show as you can see on the pics above. The Jim Jones Revue would be proud.

After playing at the MOJO release party @ Gibus club last month, Trigger Finger is back in Paris for another free show, this time no invit' needed as its a first-come-first serve-basis.They are promoting the new album.
As usual they've done a kick ass 1h10 min set of Rock-stoner, we were just standing in front of the (gentle) giant on bass, and believe me, I've ate more bass in one gig than for the last ten I've been to.

for Nuit de l'Album de la Semaine.

Lots of people tonight @ Grand Rex, all invited by Canal+ , to celebrate famous tv show L'Album de la Semaine that started around 2005.

Tonight was played on a huge screen 40 songs from the best artist who came to play at Canal+: The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, The Stooges, Arctic Monkeys , Peter Doherty, Foo Fighters, The Kills, REM, Them Crooked Vultures, Green Day, Franz Ferdinand, Miles Kane, Adele, Bjork,Lenny Kravitz, Amy Whinehouse and many others...
300 different bands in all, so they only picked up 40 for tonight:
One song for each of these artists divided over 6 sets, 3 before Gossip and 3 after, if i can remember well.
We've probably been to 80% of all these sessions with some great memories..."singing" with Iggy & Stooges being one of the best.

Short 9 songs set by Gossip with many new songs which are very disco, Hughhh !
cool set but we preferred when they were more rock

We were at the balcony with the VIPs, nice goodie bag with sandwiches & macarons by La Durée, perfect for a severe indigestion. These macarons are too good, specially the lemons & the raspberries.
The night ended at midnight (after starting @ 8:00pm), so very cool 4 hours of mostly Rock.
Could not be better... well maybe with a New York Dolls' song that was one of my favorites

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miles Kane is back in the french capital for another show, after opening for Arctic Monkeys, three times in Paris ( @ Casino, where we were, @ Olympia, that was broadcasted live on Arte live web & @ Zénith in February this year).
He put on a great show but time was restricted as he was only opening, tonight Miles is headlining @ Cigale and the show was sold-out months ago.
It's packed with a 70% female audience in their late teens, The DJ is playing some cool tunes ,The Who's "I can't see for Miles" among many others.
The PA is playing George Harrison's "Wha Wha" when the band is getting on stage (video below), Miles is the last one and is welcomed with screams...

That little fellow's really rocking and rolling the theater, always a smile on his face.
It's probably the 5th time that we're seeing them and each time it's getting better & better.
I remember the first time we saw him playing as a solo artist (for the Canal+ tv show L'Album de la Semaine) just a year ago and we were a bit disappointed as it was less rock than The Rascals.

Things have changed, they are rocking like maniacs but still have that pop feel that is more obvious on the album.
Miles Kane is also a great composer with songs that you can sing along to, to the joy of the girls tonight, The band even get a couple of bras on stage and a few roses.
Maybe they could have played a few more songs, what about a couple of Rascals or Last Shadow Puppets ?
70 min max is a bit short.
We're not gonna complain the kid can deliver, one of our best show this year so far...
