Supergrass @ Cigale, Paris June 11 2010 Last ever show !

SUPERGRASS + Charly Coombes & the New Breed
@ Cigale, Paris june 11 2010
Supergrass is playing its last ever show before splitting @ Cigale in Paris.
Of course it's SOLD-OUT.
Charly Coombes & The New Breed is opening, they started very early so we could only catch the last 3-4 songs. Very nice set.
Alvin Stardust

After a short break, we have some nice videos (from the 70's) from the English government preventing kids from crossing the street without looking for cars before feat. Alvin Stardust & Kevin Keegan.
Remember Kids ! Be Smart...Be Safe.
Kevin Keegan

Then it's time to SUPERGRASS to take the stage for a final bow...in Paris.
How cool is that !
Nice & lively atmosphere in the audience but I don't really feel particular emotional moments as if it was a normal concert.
The pit down the front is packed and jumping up & down thanks to the very "elastic" floor.
They are playing 4 songs from each record starting with "Diamond hoo Ha" and then going back in time from one record to the other ("Road to rouen", "Life on other planets", "Supergrass", "In it for the money", "I should coco")
Scroll down for detailed setlist.
Each album is introduced by a very short movie.
The original trio is on stage plus Charly on guitar & Percussion & a keyboard player.
Just the three of them for most of the songs from the early records.
Great songs, they always been a great pop-rock band on stage.
2 songs for the Encore ending the set with the very first song they wrote together: " Caught by The Fuzz"( Part1) , Part 2 HERE (click for videos)
Funny: Mickey wanted to break his bass guitar on the drums and Danny refused, he even didn't want to smash the bass guitar even though Mickey asked him too ( see part 2 on video)
Gaz thanked the audience but it was strange, you couldn't feel it was their last ever show.
I thought it would be more emotional than that !
Great show anyway !!!

Them Crooked Vultures @ Zénith, Paris June 8 2010

Them Crooked Vultures @ Zénith, Paris
June 8 2010
Sold-Out Zénith for Them Crooked Vultures , even though there were still a few empty seats on the sides.
The Pit was packed and it was hot & Sweaty.
photographers were only allowed two songs and the lightning, looking good from an audience point of view was complete shit for a photographer, hard to take a decent picture, so sorry for the lousy pictures.
The security around the band is as tight as for Madonna , ridiculous.
Check our previous review of TCV with great Pics from Patrice HERE.

Can't remember the setlist but i guess that they're playing the same shit every night, the first record and a couple of extra songs ( including the one on video here).
Lots of extended jams , some songs are streched to a good 10 min or even more for one.

Setlist (It should be correct):
No one loves me
Gunman
Scumbag Blues
Dead end friends
elephant
Higway One
New Fang
solo alain johannes
Bandoliers
Interlude with ludes
Mind eraser no chaser
Calligulove
Cant possibly imagine
Spining in daffoldis
Reptile
Warsaw

Josh is as fun to watch on stage as ever, Alain is taking care of everything ( guitar, keys, BVocals) Dave is... dave : Fantastic drumming from the first song 'till the last one.
It's nearly impossible NOT to spend the whole gig looking ONLY at him.
John Paul Jones is cool and relax on bass or Keys, he even has time to watch people in the audience while he's playing.
Funny, when we met him after the show he recognised a friend of ours who was on the first row in front of him

Great gig once again even if I would have prefer them to play an extra song instead of streaching out songs to the limit.
Too bad they didn't play any Encore.

1h50 min show.

All of them left Paris after the show to go to Amsterdam but JPJ who stayed in Paris for a couple more nights before the next show ( June 10th).

see ya guys !!!

GoodBye Paris !

New song " Can't possibly begin to Imagine"

Cool !

Lots of other GREAT videos HERE

Babyshambles without Adam Ficek and with Danny Goffey of Supergrass

Rehearsals @ Bataclan (March 2009) & Zénith (Oct 2009)
Click for review, Pics, setlist & videos

Official statement from Babyshambles' management:
"Babyshambles have parted company with drummer Adam Ficek. Currently booked Babyshambles commitments will take place with Danny Goffey of Supergrass filling in on drums.”
Source: NME

I don't know why the NME is saying that "Adam left the band", there's nothing in the statement saying that.
It looks like he's been fired or was it a mutual agreement ?, When he was in Paris a couple of weeks ago he told us that what happened to him was "unfair".
We shall see...
Good Luck to Adam

Wolfmother cancells European Tour 2010

"Le Bain Show" @ Olivier's with June Madona, Christina Antipa, Kacey Johansing & Friends...

"Le Bain Show" @ Olivier's
Rue du Bourg L' Abbé, Paris June 4th 2010

June Madrona

To celebrate the end of the European tour of its artists June Madona & Christina Antipa, Waterhouse records is organising a nice party at Olivier's.(no relation with Oliver Peel who was there)
Rockerparis has missed the performances of LadyBug, Christina Antipa and probably a couple of others but we have an excuse we were @ Air & Jarvis Cocker concert @ Cité de la Musique.
Lots of people in this nice appartement fronting the famous Bains Douches club luckily we're on the ground floor so we could make a quick exit to get some fresh air ( or smoke for the nicotine addicts) outside as we're boiling inside.

Kacey & friend

All bands or artist played small sets ( 3-4 songs each) we could catch Molly & June Madrona's set, Kacey Johansing's & friend's and last artist for the night a cello player with innovative playing.

Cool party with lots of nice food, stuff to drink , beautifull girls & nice music.

AIR + Jarvis Cocker @ Cité de la Musique, Paris June 4 2010

AIR + Jarvis Cocker @ Cité de la Musique
Paris June 4 2010

Third concert for AIR @ Cité de la Musique, after playing with Au Revoir Simone on June 1st, after playing their" The Virgin Suicides" soundtrack yesterday (scroll down for review & videos).
Tonight AIR is playing with former PULP singer and currently living in Paris Jarvis Cocker.

Air and Jarvis Cocker have worked together on Charlotte Gainsbourg 's album and Jarvis was the first to play the song " Sexy Boy" on the radio a few years ago when AIR was unknown.
They're starting the gig with a song they wrote for Charlotte( "The Operation") then we will get a mix of Jarvis' song solo ( "disney time") or with Pulp ( " Ladies Man", "This is Hardcore" ).
Most of the songs are mid-tempo and i'm not really familiar with this repertoire so i thought that the show was pretty average.
The most annoying parts were the tentative of Jarvis to introduce each song before it is played, unfortunately his French, even though he's been living here for a few years, is very poor and it was difficult to understand a bloody thing.
Even if he's trying not to show it , you can see that Nicolas is also very annoyed by Jarvis' monologues.

Pulp's"This is hardcore" had an ovation but the audience remained very quiet all along the set.
They ended the concert with their international hit " Sexy Boy" to rousing applauses, at last people woke up for the last song.
This gig was a bit of a let down compare to the perfect interpretation of " The Virgin Suicides" yesterday.

setlist

"Sexy Boy" with Jarvis Cocker:

Have a nice week-end !
