Babyshambles + Jim Jones Revue @ Chorus Live fest, Paris , March 29 2014

Babyshambles + Jim Jones Revue @ Chorus Live fest, Paris , March 29 2014

CHORUS FEST with BABYSHAMBLES, Jim Jones Revue, Melle K,
The Bell Rays on sunday

Melle K is already on stage when we're making our way into what looks like a small plane hangar with a capacity of around 2000 people. Nice pop-rock she ended the set crowd surfing.

It's a really nice place in the middle of the Esplanade de la Défense, with bars with drinks & food, vip area, backstage area... looks like a proper festival with two stages a place to chill outside... but pocket-size-Fest of only 2000 people.
Next band TOYBLOID is playing in a nearby circus-tent that is like the Cabaret Sauvage (more or less 600 capacity)
Cool French power Trio with two girls on guitar/vocals and Bass not very inovative but powerful indie- rock.

Back to the Hangar for some powerful Boogie-Rock, it's heavy , it's greasy and the audience is pogoing like mad down the front, at least the boys. There's a majority of female teenagers in the audience as Peter Doherty & band will play afterwards.
As usual Jim Jones Revue is kicking ass. Straight after their concert they are going to the merchandising table to sign stuff and have their picture taken with fans.
We're wondering around the site a bit, before heading back to the main hall for the Babyshambles
Last show at the Zénith was very average because of Peter's attitude. Amazingly Peter didn't miss his train or plane, the band is on time. Peter seems a bit wasted but not too much and the band is tight. Nice surprise. Even more surprising They are playing one song after another there are no time outs between songs. No acoustic solo part.
The band is alternating between old and new songs, rock songs and reggae ones. They didn't really follow the initial setlist but I guess they've played the same songs in a different order.
Proper rock concert with no bullshit, Peter kept his shit together for this one.
GREAT set.

Babyshambles + Naive New Beaters + La Femme @ Olympia for Pression Live fest Paris Oct 22 2013

Babyshambles + Naive New Beaters + La Femme @ Olympia for Pression Live fest Paris Oct 22 2013
 setlist

There are days like this... It could have been a nice party out, it turned into a fiasco.
We went there only to see Babyshambles, so we had to endure 3 shitty bands before that:
Alexis and the Brainbow: No interest
La Femme: Complete crap ( up and coming band with rave reviews in the press: What the Fuck !!! between Partenaire Particulier, Les Inconnus & Indochine)
Naive New Beaters: complete crap as well
 Even the buffet was AWFUL
The only moment of joy was this young couple kissing each other on the stairs between bands (pic above)
We waited an hour, to 11:30 to be told that Peter Doherty couldn't be there , with no other explanations
No hard feelings for the promoter and a BIG FUCK YOU to PETER DOHERTY

Babyshambles @ Zénith, Paris Oct 03 2013

Babyshambles @ Zénith, Paris Oct 03 2013
After playing a 30 min show, the first one in many years @ République in Paris in July, BABYSHAMBLES  are back in Paris for a proper show @ Zénith.
It's a small Zénith and it's far from being full, We'd rather not mention the French band that we saw opening just before, I guess I'm too old for that crap.

Long intermission, too long but beautiful backdrop ( It's the artwork for the new album). The more we listen to the new album , the more we like it. Maybe not as rock as the previous one with a bit of reggae, a bit of cabaret, some slower songs... but great songs ( Fireman, Nothing comes..., Maybelline...)
Straight from the beginning we can notice that Peter is wasted ( as usual) and not respecting the original setlist as they're starting the gig with a kick ass version of "Pipedown, then "Delivery" and new single "Nothing comes..." Great start as we have 3 great songs.
Unfortunately it won't last long, there are always talks between songs to see what's next and Peter seems to do what he pleases with the band trying to follow him.
Sometimes it's sounding more like a public rehearsals than a proper concert.
Then we have an acoustic part with Peter alone on stage, I guess I was attending a Babyshambles' gig ?!
We even have one of the dancing girl singing one song with him ! What the Fuck !!!
Is it Peter & Co or Babyshambles ?
After attending their comeback show @ Republique, where the band was really tight I was expecting a better gig than this one, Hoped the band would be tighter, I guess we can put the blame on Peter's attitude.Too bad.
Did we really need to hear "La Marseillaise" or "Les Copains d'abord"?
A good 90 min show but a bit disappointed.

Peter Doherty @ Jane Club, Paris Sept 25 2013

Peter Doherty @ Jane Club, Paris Sept 25 2013
Another acoustic show by Peter, this time at the Jane Club (former Rock'n Roll Circus where Jim Morrison supposedly died of an heroin overdose).
Only 17 euros.
Show supposed to start at 10:00 but people are still queuing outside when we arrived at the club long after 10pm.
We're still waiting in the staircase to get in when Peter is walking past us to go straight on stage. The club is packed but far from being sold out.
Peter is on acoustic guitar and there is a girl on violin (the same girl from the show @ Bus Palladium a few months ago where Peter complained all the time that he hadn't been paid)
Peter is in fine spirit, a bit stoned as usual, stopping playing when a girl is offering him a book and a letter, he's getting the girl to read some lines from the book then back to normal for some more songs, including new single "Nothing comes from Nothing" stopped before the end as he broke a string. Unfortunately they don't have any spare strings so he'll keep on playing his old beaten guitar with 5 strings. "Last of the English roses" is recorded below so enjoy !
After just an hour he broke another string so that was too much, Peter said goodbye and left as fast as he came
Nice gig .
