Jamiroquai @ Olympia for Paul & Joe Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2011, Paris March 07 2011

Jamiroquai secret show @ Olympia for Paul & Joe @ Fashion Week
Autumn-Winter 2011, Paris March 07 2011

Very nice day, we went to Stella Mc Cartney's fashion show this morning , Paul Mc Cartney was there once again, I think since he divorced from that greedy bitch he went to all but one of his daughter's show.

Then tonight (9:00pm) it was a celebration, it was Paul & Joe's 15 th anniversary and they celebrated it with a huge party @ Olympia.
And to celebrate it with a BANG, they hire Jamiroquai to play a private gig for the 1000 + guests.
French actresses and actors Zoé Felix , Lambert Wilson, Allison Paradis and a few others I can't remember were attending the show.
Normal guests were at the balcony and VIPs downstairs seated at tables full of drinks (champagne, vodka and soft drinks) and food. It was flowing !
Lots of waiters everywhere to provide booze and canapés to everyone.
It was a bit of a mess and it took a long time to clear the aisles as models had to go throught the tables from the front (stage) to the back of the venue.
Cool show, models were still walking the "catwalk" that Jamiroquai started their show.
The VIPs rushed to the stage and then we had a 45 min show.
Good lightning , perfect sound and very hot atmosphere down the front with lots of very sexy girls dancing.
Sorry I couldn't get the setlist but they played 8-9 songs, can't really remember exactly as we already had a few drinks.
Very good show but they left without an encore, I guess they had lots of money for this corporate show and just did what they had signed for.

Anyway they had barely left the stage that a DJ was playing some cool mixes of the JB's, Smokey Robinson, Motown artists...
More booze , more canapés and more booze and sexy girls were dancing on tables and everyone was smoking ( I thought it was banned indoors, not @ Olympia).
Designers went on stage to say hello and we had a huge cake to celebrate the 15th anniversary.

We had a GREAT time, GREAT Party !
We left early in the morning and it was still rockin' & Rollin'.....................

sweet-heart ;-)

Early wake up call this morning to be on time for Stella McCartney's fashion show @ Opéra Garnier.
It started @ 10:30am, Paul was there , Liv Tyler too.
That was it.
The Opéra is splendid, we've already been here a few times for concerts or fashion shows and I'm still amazed.

Paul did a couple of interviews but didn't stay that long backstage, he didn't even pose with his daughter for photographers making a quick exit by the side door.

Sisters of Mercy @ Trianon, Paris March 05 2011

Sisters Of Mercy @ Trianon
Paris March 05 2011

Post-Punk, Goth-rock, Dark Wave ( or whatever you wanna call them) English band Sisters of Mercy is playing the beautiful and recently re-open Trianon concert hall in the red district of Pigalle, a two minutes walk from the Moulin Rouge, in Paris.

As you can guess most of the audience is in their 30's and ALL dressed in black.
The place is packed though not sold out.
No support band, just a DJ playing some cool tunes ( The Who , The Sparks....) but the poor guy seemed a bit lost on the stage.
The Sisters are taking the stage @ 8:50pm in a huge cloud of dry ice and some back lightning (a nightmare for our photographer, well he wasn't supposed to take any pics tonight but he just can't help).
The sound is perfect and not too loud, no drummer , just a drum machine and some cool "cold" guitar works for some cool cold Goth-rock.
Even if songs tend to sound similar, you get slowly into the music and the beat and by the second part of the show everybody in the stalls is standing up and dancing to their most famous songs.
It was probably Christmas as the singer said a few words and introduced the musicians, they even throw away some baloons in the audience at the end.
Nice David Bowie cover in the middle of the set, "John only Dancin'" on the setlist.

setlist

Even though I'm absolutely not familiar with their catalogue and not really into Goth-rock, that was really enjoyable.
Very good 90 min set.

It was also a pleasure to attend a gig @ Trianon, it's now the most beautiful concert hall in Paris ( the nearby Cigale has always been my favorite) and the bar is just amazing with some confortable sofas & chairs to lie on before or after the gig.
Maybe they should do something for the toilet, beautiful too but not very useful when they are overflowing.

Fran Healy (Travis) @ Maroquinerie, Paris March 04 2011

Fran Healy @ Maroquinerie
Paris, March 04 2011
Fran Healy , lead singer from Travis has just released a solo album and is playing a low key acoustic show to promote it @ Maroquinerie club where Travis played its first gig in Paris many years ago.
Foley Stewart opened the show but sorry we arrived too late to see him.
Even though it's friday night it's not packed, lots of girls all knowing lyrics inside out to every song.
Just to keep the audience interested Fran is playing one new song then one Travis song and so on...
Lots of talking between songs, some people found it boring , I didn't.
Fran told interesting stories about how the songs were written or other funny ones including one telling how he stole the chords from Oasis' "Wonderwall" for one of Travis' song fearing that Noel might discover it and punch him when they opened for them. He only had a "Nice Fookin' chords, man", plus other ones about Paul McCartney recording with Nigel Godrich ( Here on video, missing the first part sorry).
Oh yeah, by the way Paul is playing bass on his album.
For the last half hour he took requests from the audience, ending his two hour set as he started it: playing acoustic guitar and singing without amplification.
Very cool set
