PJ Harvey @ Maroquinerie
Paris, Feb 14 2011

First show on the Tour to promote her brand new album "Let England Shake" that came out this morning in France.
It's a World Premiere as it's the first show and a private gig @ the tiny 400 capacity club La Maroquinerie.
They did the rehearsals yesterday I've been told ( They probably did some more this afternoon).
Lots of guests ( including English actress Helen Mirren) and a few competition winners.
As the show is broadcasted live on Arte TV there are a few cameras on each side of the stage and at the back of the venue, it's also broadcasted live on Deezer.

As you're getting in , they are giving you a wristband for the aftershow party ( it looks like everybody has one).
Polly is getting on the stage @ 9:15pm , there's a very relax atmosphere in this club, there was a few people outside without ticket, I guess (hope) they let them in as there is some empty space in the pit, it's far from being packed.
Conditions are perfect as we're first row on the left , which is the good option as PJ is standing on the left of the stage for the whole gig, just in front of us.

As you can see on the setlist ( scroll down for detailed setlist) she played the whole new album in different order.
Nice lightshow and the sound is perfect.
She played several instruments, auto-harp (see pic) + acoustic & electric guitars.
Songs are very quiet and everyone is listening religiously for the whole set.
Her high voice is crystal clear.

She's very concentrated for the whole set and didn't communicate at all apart from a couple of words at the Encore, she felt more relax then. Remember it was live on tv .

Four songs for the Encore including "Down by the river" (here on video) which had the best ovation for the night. [ Yeah I know it's NOT a video from the new album, I was a bit surprised that the show ended so quickly, I shouldn't have the setlist was in front of me, anyway it's better than nothing and the show was live on the internet so...]
Short set : 70 min

We felt very lucky to be there ( Thanks again to Patrice for sorting out tickets) for this Premiere of " Let England shake".
Conditions at the Olympia for her two sold out shows on Feb 24 & 25th will certainely not be as perfect as tonight.
setlist & Highway to Heaven with Polly.

The Encore: "Down by the river":

The show was broadcasted LIVE on Deezer & on Arte TV @ 9:00pm ( French Time).

Here's the OFFICIAL re-run of the show on Arte TV ( only 6 songs ):

Cool aftershow party at the bar of the maroquinerie with free drinks and a few canapés, Polly wasn't there but we spotted Dame Helen Mirren.

The Faces together again with... Mick Hucknall @ Cornbury Festival this summer

The Faces headlining Cornbury Music Fest in England this summer

A couple of weeks ago Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood & Kenney Jones went to the Ivy in London fuelling rumours that they will get back together.

It looks like NOT AT ALL as The Faces are booked for the Cornbury Fest in Oxforshire on July 2nd 2011 with, once again, Mick Hucknall as their lead vocalist.

No reunion of the original Black Sabbath according to Geezer Butler

Ozzy,Geezer & Tony

Since the death of the late great Ronnie James Dio there has been numerous rumours, fuelled by Ozzy and Tony Iommi, that the original line up of Black sabbath (Ozzy, Tony, Geezer & Bill) will get together again in the near future for a Tour or a new album.

Geezer Butler has released the following statement:
"I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumors, that there will be definitely NO reunion of all four original members of BLACK SABBATH, whether to record an album or to tour."

Adler's Appetite @ Forum de Vauréal, Feb 11 2011

Adler's Appetite @ Forum de Vauréal
Feb 11 2011
At last Steven Adler is finally playing in France. Ist time ever as Guns N Roses never played with him over here.
At the time they were supposed to open for Motley Crue @ Zénith in Paris but the whole tour was cancelled because some of the members of the Crue ODed.
Steven Adler also cancelled a show in Paris a couple of years ago @ Locomotive club.
This time it's on and he is playing with Adlers' Appetite unfortunately it's in shit-hole city Vauréal , 25 km from Paris, 35 min+ ride with the train.
Doors are opening very late @ 8:30pm.
We have to endure support band Knock Out Kaine, the music's not too bad but all the clichés of hard rock in just one band : ridiculous.

Adler's Appetite is on stage @ 10:15pm
Can't tell you who's playing in the band apart from Chip Znuff on bass from Enuff Z Nuff fame. They've done a few very good records back in the late 80's early 90's.
Though it's not sold out the place is packed with an all age audience including lots of young people who couldn't possibly have seen the "real" Guns N Roses in 92-93.
It's also our first time with Steven Adler.
Nice start with "It's so easy", the band will play most of classic album "Appetite for Destruction" plus a few of their own songs ( see complete & corrected setlist below).
Steven Adler is on top form, these guy is the coolest drummer ever and i'm sure that if he wasn't involved with some substances at some point he could have had a greater career by joining some major rock band.
Chip Z Nuff is also playing it cool on the bass ( and backing vocals), the singer is doing his best but it is hard to fill Axl's shoes. Many people are saying that Axl sucks but you can notice how Axl is a FAN-TAS-TIC singer when other guys are singing his songs. They can't compete and Myles Kennedy (from SLASH's band) would not argue.
On guitars we have one wannabe Slash (on the left) and one wannabe DJ Ashba (on the right) with hat, tattoos and cigarette maybe they should concentrate on their guitar playing instead of posing.
There's a great atmosphere, the pit is hot, there are a few sexy girls down the front.
Steven is smiling all the time, having a lot of fun and doing the show without missing a beat, giving away dozens of drum sticks to the front rows. At the end of the 95min show it looks like everybody will go home with a drum stick in his hands.
We had a very good time.

It's past 11:50pm, the show has just ended and some people are wondering how the fuck they're gonna get home back to Paris. The last train is @ 12:05 and it's a 25 min walk to the train station, of course there are no buses after 10pm in this shit-hole of Vauréal.
We met some friends there so they drove us back but what about the others ?
I mean... WHAT THE FUCK ? don't they have any consideration for the poor bugger without a car. Why did they opened the doors so late knowing from the start that the show will end just before midnight.

Steven Adler as cool as ever

"Sweet child O Mine"
"It's so easy"
