Miles Kane @ Maroquinerie, Paris May 22 2013

Miles Kane @ Maroquinerie, Paris May 22 2013
We're getting into the tiny Maroquinerie as the opening band is playing its last song, of course it's packed as the show is long sold-out.
it's 9:00pm sharp when Miles Kane & friends are making their way onto the stage, Miles is here to introduce us to his new solo album out next week but all the young girls down the front know all the lyrics already.
A few weeks ago on April 22 @ Canal+ tv show L'Album de la Semaine we were lucky to see him performing some of the new songs, that sounding great and really rocking even though conditions at a tv show are more clinical.
Tonight in front of a "real" audience things are more organic, Miles is Rockin' like never before and always... with a smile to the girls from the first row.

See setlist (underneath) for details, first song of the Encore  "Colour of the trap" is performed alone by Miles on acoustic guitar.
Last song "Don't forget who you are" is also the tee shirt sold at the merchandise table tonight that was wearing all the roadies
The whole show was professionally video recorded by several cameras.
Great gig !

Ray Manzarek dead at 74, RIP 1939-2013

The Doors co-founder and keyboardist Ray Manzarek died yesterday in Rosenheim, Germany after a long battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74.

A statement from his family says: “Ray passed away today at the RoMed Clinic in Rosenheim, Germany, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife Dorothy and his brothers Rick and James."

Joe Cocker @ Zénith, Paris May 15 2013

Joe Cocker @ Zénith, Paris May 15 2013

WOW ! Jesus ! Finally there is a gig in Paris ! Our second for this month. 2013 has been the quietest year Concert-wise for years. June will be better.
Tonight it's Mr Joe Cocker not anymore with his Englishmen but with some very sexy female singers and a hot bass player, same band as for his last show in Paris 3 years ago.
The Zénith is quite full though far from being sold-out, once again it's an all seated event as most of the audience is in their 50's.
First song is a new one which is not the best choice to start the gig than we have some of the classics ( see setlist below). Joe Cocker has a sore throat tonight so the vocals are not at their best for the first few songs, he will apologize a couple of times for his voice. The lightning is great and the sound crystal clear and not too loud: it's perfect for the Senior in the audience.
The audience is politely clapping between songs, feel like being in a retirement home, even on stage it's "polite" with mid-tempo songs, we even have a semi-acoustic sections to put us all to sleep.
Fortunately people are standing up for the last part.
Overall good 1h40  min+ show, perfect for grannies.

Dan Aykroyd @ Cave Fauchon in Paris for Crystal Head, May 15 2013

Dan Aykroyd @ Cave Fauchon in Paris for Crystal Head, May 15 2013

Dan Aykroyd will sign the bottle tonight at the Fauchon store in Paris

Limited Edition Rolling Stones Crystal head Vodka boxset with a double live cd
Should be 80 euros, Double cd with 18 songs
Very cool signing session with Blue Brother Dan Aykroyd, couldn't believe that there was NO Rolling Stones' box set with the cd available ( it's out on June 1st).
There were a few guys dressed up as Ghostbusters which was fun.
The limited edition gift set, which is available for US$89.95, features an iconic bottle of Crystal Head Vodka with an interchangeable crystal decanter top engraved with The Rolling Stones lip-and-tongue tattoo. Also included is an exclusive 2-CD compilation of live Rolling Stones hits, a bottle tattoo featuring the 50th anniversary logo, and handcrafted display case featuring a real zipper reminiscent of the Sticky Fingers album cover.
A very limited whiskey set was released in October of last year (photo above)

Another Oliver Peel session with folk band Arborea for some laid back songs on banjo and a bit of electric guitar.
They already played @ Oliver's in 2010.

Lou Doillon @ L'Album de la Semaine, Paris April 30 2013

Lou Doillon @ L'Album de la Semaine, Paris April 30 2013

French singer LOU DOILLON playing tonight @ Canal+
French Pop-Folk, her first album had good reviews, we'll see how she's doing Live !
Not too bad,, first part was acoustic with the whole band sitting on stools down the front with Lou on acoustic guitar for some new songs.
Then there was a short break and they came back to play songs from the first album which is more orchestrated and electric (and more pop).
All the songs are slow tempo or mid-tempo so it was a relaxed affair.
Good songs but her way of singing ( or intonations) tends to be a bit annoying in the end.
Nice hour+ set.
