Fleetwood Mac @ Zénith Paris Oct 17th 2009

FLEETWOOD MAC @ Zénith Paris
Oct 17th 2009
Sold-out Zénith tonight even though there were lots of empty space in the pit
Why ?
A few stations were closed in Paris not too far from the Zénith so it was a nightmare to get there.
We were lucky that they started the show a bit later because of these tube problems , we get there just 2 min before they get on stage. " Ouf ! "
Lindsey Buckingham is the leader, singing most of the lyrics and doing all the guitars ( well there's someone almost hidden at the back doing other stuff ).
A real guitar hero with nice poses ( and nice guitar licks ) .
John McVie on bass is discreet next to Mick Fleetwood 's drumkit

Stevie Nicks is as sexy as ever, same gypsy look , she changed her wardrobe several times , same outfit but different colours.

" so sexy"
I'm not too familiar with their later repertoire as , there's only one FLEETWOOD MAC for me, It's Peter Green 's early incarnation of the band when they were playing blues and not the soft rock they would play later.

With no record to promote they've played all the hits

They had to start " Don't stop " 3 times as the poor Brett Tuggle fucked it up on piano.

Funny thing it is the first time ever that I 've seen a drum solo for the encore.

Mick Fleetwood went several times on the front and acted really like a madman each time

Great gig too bad they only played " Oh well" from the early incarnation of the band.

Joseph Arthur @ Café de la Danse Paris Oct 16th 2009

Joseph Arthur @ Café de la Danse
Oct 16th 2009
2nd SOLD-OUT show for Joseph Arthur @ The tiny Café de la Danse ( 500 Capacity ) in Bastille.
Joseph Arthur is on his own once again. Thanks to technology he's a one man band recording loops live and playing over them. Many artists are doing this now always with great effects.
I was a bit scared for the first two songs as with Joseph you really need to be into his music to appreciate ( I'm not familiar with his songs at all even though I already saw him live opening for Tracy" The Bitch " Chapman).
I first thought well this is gonna be boring but after the 4th song I slowly started getting into it and then I was hooked.
Amazing what a man can do with a guitar and in this case 4 guitars ( acoustic 6 & 12 strings + electric ) and a bit of technology.
Alternating songs on his different guitars and the use of his "Loop machine" with had a very diversified gig between JJCale and Richard Ashcroft over 2 sets of 60 min and 50+ min or maybe the encores were really long.
The lightning was horrible sorry for the lousy Pics.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE !!!

A PICTURE FROM PRINCE @ LA CIGALE
Thanks Z

SORRY NO PICS WE CAN'T PUBLISHED THEM HERE
bIG bROTHER ( read Prince's Management ) 'S WATCHING OVER OUR HEADS

ticket & vip wristband

After seeing PEACHES @ famous Canal+ tv show "L' Album de la Semaine" , we're heading straight to the nearby Cigale in Pigalle , very easy 5 tube stations.
We're collecting our VIP wristbands and tickets for the show.
There's a special entrance for the VIPs @ La Boule Noire where there is a VERY lousy cocktail with DJ playing some crap , so we just stay a minute and we go immediately to the next door Cigale to see Prince.
Once again Lots of expectations after the desillusions of the first show @ Grand Palais ( click for setlist , review & Pics ... sorry NO pics ) and the 9 min set @ RTL this afternoon.

Well we're not gonna talk shit for ages :
TONIGHT WAS THE PLACE TO BE !!!

Not only because lots of VIPs were at the balcony with us ( Louis Bertignac , Keziah Jones , Romain Duris , Philippe M. , Manu Payet, Emma Decaunes , Patrice Guino who took some nice Pics once again ... NOT ). I mean they're French VIPs so it doesn't count.

[ personnal message to Prince management if you're reading this : FUCK YOU ]

Anyway from start to finish FANTASTIC SHOW , not one lousy moment , he even drop his horrible outdated 80's sounding drums & keyboard .
He was in high spirit , the audience down the front and at the balcony were dancing, clapping hands, singing like maniacs including PEACHES and her band who were there.
We're always moaning about something @ ROCKERPARIS but honestly I can't find anything wrong to say well... maybe one thing :I didn't make it with the beautifull brunette seating next to me.
Apart from this I can't find.

2h 45 min of pure joy with several encores ( 4 -5 ? )
Oh Yeah this time the sound was PERFECT
Judge by yourself with this amazing

PEACHES @ L' Album de la Semaine Canal+ Oct 12th 2009 8 PM

PEACHES @ L' Album de la Semaine TV show Canal+
Paris Oct 12th

setlist

After seeing PRINCE playing for only 9 min @ RTL radio this afternoon we're heading to the north of Paris where all the major TV studios are located to see the crazy PEACHES.
She's proudly wearing a Mohawk and is making her way to the stage with the most ridiculous outfit I have ever seen.
With Peaches you know that she's not serious ( unlike a litle kid from Minneapolis ) so you just accept it with a good laugh. Her musicians are also wearing nice outfits , the drummer looks like a cave man escaped from the Flintstones , the keyboard player is dressed with a lizard skin and the beautiful and sexy blonde female keyboard & guitar player is dressed with some very sexy high heels leather boots and black underwear.
the music is now VERY electronic and minimalist to my horror as I hate that kind of music. Peaches used to be much more rock and subversive years ago, playing with giant dildos.
She's putting so much effort to attract attention with different outfit for every song that in fact you can only do one thing : appreciate the gig.
So we had lots of fun even though we prefer guitar-orientated bands.
Cool 30 min + set
Almost 9 PM time to head to the Cigale for PRINCE.

PRINCE @ RTL Oct 12th 2009 4:30 PM

Just back from the RTL studio next to the Grand Palais .
100 people , competition winners and guests waited 90 min outside before getting into the Grand Studio. There are seats , it was a rush to get the best seats as Prince , 3 backing vocals girls and fred on harmonica were already on the stage.
The first people in barely took their seat that Prince started the first song so the people in the back missed part of it.
The place was packed.
Less than 9 min later it was all over
What 9 min ? Yes sir, only 9 min.

SETLIST (tbc ):
"Feel Good, Feel Better..."
"Mountains" incorporating parts of "Shake Your Body down to the ground"

In case nobody noticed Prince told us that he was playing for free and that he should use his hat (nda : to collect money ).
Conditions were perfect , the girls from the first row were so close to him that they could have shake his hand.
Come on man ! just 9 min !!!

Message from Patrice : Of Course we had to leave our cell phone at the door to get in , No pictures allowed LOL

PRINCE @ Grand Palais 5 PM show Oct 11th 2009

PRINCE @ Grand Palais 5 PM show
Oct 12th 2009

Le Grand Palais is probably the best place to attend a gig. I've been there several times to see the CHANEL shows over the last few years ( March 2009 , Oct 2008 click for Pics )
Lots of people queueing to get in the athmosphere is relax and the security is everywhere , checking if the name on your ticket is matching with your ID.
Once you're in the stage is on the side so that people in the stalls fronting the stage are not too far.
5 PM sharp Prince is on , nice start with "1999" the stage is quite small.
The lightshow is discreet & Prince is immaculate ( Perfect to take Pics LOL ) with his black & white jacket.
The sound is far from being perfect, but it's hard to get a good sound in a hall made of steel & glass , and Prince kept on asking for more of this and less of that to the french sound engineer. He even had to use one of his song to complete a perfect soundcheck.
Prince is playing the songs one after another no time to breathe between them.
He played a few on his own on the acoustic guitar and had a dozen people dancing behind him on stage. There were lots of expectations for this gig, it was the first time I was seeing him live ( last week at CHANEL doesn't count, click for Pics ) and I was slightly disappointed where is the Prince that was running evrywhere on stage ? He's limping when he walks.
And THAT sound , it's so outdated as if he was still leaving in the 80's , hey man that shitty keyboard and drum sounds is long gone No one's playing them anymore.
The setlist was nice it was 'a best of' .
Nice 90 min set but it could have been so much better.

Ruby Throat @ La Dame de Canton Paris Oct 7th 2009

Ruby Throat @ La Dame de Canton
Paris Oct 7th 2009
Queen Adreena 's female lead singer Katie Jane Garside is singing in another band called Ruby Throat which is a duet with guitar player Chris Whittingham.

Two minutes walk from Le Batofar there is another tiny boat called " La Dame de Canton" ( The lady from Shenzhen ) the atmosphere is more intimist , people are seating and listening religiously to her soft frail voice over the laid back guitar licks.
Unfortunately I get there too late , the show was supposed to start at 10 PM but I only saw the last 20 min.
Too bad it was really good

Katie & Chris
