Phoenix @ L'Album de la Semaine- La Musicale Canal+ , Paris May 30 2013

Phoenix @ L'Album de la Semaine- La Musicale, Canal+ , Paris May 30 2013

Live TV show tonight to promote new album "Bankrupt"

In the middle of their Tour to Promote new album "Bankrupt" Phoenix is playing Canal+ TV show L'Album de la Semaine which is in fact now call "La Musicale". Good point as band are playing a longer set, instead of the 7-8 songs it is now 14-15 songs. Queens of the Stone Age played a couple of weeks ago.
Tonight it's French pop band from the posh Versailles city: PHOENIX. We've never really paid that much attention to that band, we've heard a couple of their songs on the radio but that pretty much about it.
Well, that's very pop, with a very trendy radio-friendly sound, they've found a "formula" and they're sticking to it.They have some very good songs and I'm sure it's very enjoyable attending one of their gig at a festival but in the end it all sounds a bit the same.
One of the best song tonight was the one they've played with just the singer and an acoustic guitar.
Not really the kind of stuff that we're listening to everyday but a good show.

Miles Kane @ Maroquinerie, Paris May 22 2013

Miles Kane @ Maroquinerie, Paris May 22 2013
We're getting into the tiny Maroquinerie as the opening band is playing its last song, of course it's packed as the show is long sold-out.
it's 9:00pm sharp when Miles Kane & friends are making their way onto the stage, Miles is here to introduce us to his new solo album out next week but all the young girls down the front know all the lyrics already.
A few weeks ago on April 22 @ Canal+ tv show L'Album de la Semaine we were lucky to see him performing some of the new songs, that sounding great and really rocking even though conditions at a tv show are more clinical.
Tonight in front of a "real" audience things are more organic, Miles is Rockin' like never before and always... with a smile to the girls from the first row.

See setlist (underneath) for details, first song of the Encore  "Colour of the trap" is performed alone by Miles on acoustic guitar.
Last song "Don't forget who you are" is also the tee shirt sold at the merchandise table tonight that was wearing all the roadies
The whole show was professionally video recorded by several cameras.
Great gig !

Joe Cocker @ Zénith, Paris May 15 2013

Joe Cocker @ Zénith, Paris May 15 2013

WOW ! Jesus ! Finally there is a gig in Paris ! Our second for this month. 2013 has been the quietest year Concert-wise for years. June will be better.
Tonight it's Mr Joe Cocker not anymore with his Englishmen but with some very sexy female singers and a hot bass player, same band as for his last show in Paris 3 years ago.
The Zénith is quite full though far from being sold-out, once again it's an all seated event as most of the audience is in their 50's.
First song is a new one which is not the best choice to start the gig than we have some of the classics ( see setlist below). Joe Cocker has a sore throat tonight so the vocals are not at their best for the first few songs, he will apologize a couple of times for his voice. The lightning is great and the sound crystal clear and not too loud: it's perfect for the Senior in the audience.
The audience is politely clapping between songs, feel like being in a retirement home, even on stage it's "polite" with mid-tempo songs, we even have a semi-acoustic sections to put us all to sleep.
Fortunately people are standing up for the last part.
Overall good 1h40  min+ show, perfect for grannies.

Miles Kane @ L'Album de la Semaine, Canal+ Paris April 22 2013

 Miles Kane @ L'Album de la Semaine, Canal+ Paris April 22 2013

Miles Kane is back with a second solo album " Don't forget who you are" and before his European Tour starting next month...and a show @ Maroquinerie on May 22nd (probably already sold-out), he's doing some promo. Tonight he's playing Canal+ studios in front of a young audience of 100+ people.
I Remember that last time he played "L'album de la Semaine" to promote his first album we thought it was a bit too pop compare to The Rascals. We saw him many times afterwards and each time it was near perfection.
Now we're fully satisfied, it's ROCKING & KICKING ASS.
New songs are much more heavier and as good as the first album (we haven't listen to any of them yet).
There is an extra keyboard player to add extra flavor with piano or weird Psyche noises.
Miles is , as usual, smartly dressed with a black costume.
The set ended with a nice rendition of The Rolling Stones' "Doom & Gloom" that is rocking.
The came back once to re-play "get up" as they were not satisfied with the sound.
Once again Great gig ( around 40 min)

MILES KANE covering The Rolling Stones' "Doom & Gloom"
Afetr the show I've asked him why playing that song, he answered "just because I Like it"

The Stereophonics @ Studio SFR, Paris March 05 2013

The Stereophonics @ Studio SFR, Paris March 05 2013
Before their sold-out show @ Bataclan on March 13 , The Stereophonics are playing this private gig @ Studio SFR in front of 200 people.

Always nice to see such a famous band is such a tiny place , it's full but no more than 200 people in here and still room to breath even down the front. We're just on time and the band is getting on stage just as we arrived by the side of the stage on the left. Perfect spot.
The band is starting with brand new song "Indian summer", I guess they would have played most of the new album with a couple of hits in the end, not really.(see setlist below)
We've seen the Stereophonics a few times in Paris ( Maroquinerie & Café de la Danse) and in London ( Wembley stadium and some other places I can't remember) and each time we were a bit disappointed, they are nice little boys playing some nice rock songs, good songs though but NOT rock (read Heavy) enough. It's true today and to make things worse it's an acoustic/electro gig.
COME ON GUYS, take your balls out & put them on the table  !!!
We want some wild guitars and heavier songs !!!
I'm pretty sure that even my little sister would fell asleep listening to those songs.

Good gig but NOT Heavy enough.
