The Dead Weather @ L' Album de la Semaine Canal+ Paris June 30th 2009

The Dead Weather @ L' Album de la Semaine
Paris June 30th 2009

Setlist & Allison + Jack L on left

Last recording for the season before the holidays for the famous Canal+ TV show " L' Album de la Semaine ".
The studio is packed , around 200 people , lots of fans who were at the Cigale the day before ( see Pics and review + Videos HERE ). Thankfully it's not as hot as yesterday.
The band opened the set with the same song ( "60 ft all" ) which I think is not the best choice to start the gig with.
Anyway the band is on top form and after listening to the songs for the first time yesterday night live, I'm really getting into it and I have prefered this private show.
They 've played 10 songs ( see setlist above ) for 45 min.
They ended the gig with Jack on guitar on " enough water".
We could meet them briefly after.( see Pic )

The Dead Weather @ Cigale Paris June 29th 2009

The Dead Weather + Aqua Nebula Oscillator
@ Cigale Paris June 29th 2009
Aqua Nebula Oscillator

First on stage in a Hot & Sweaty Cigale ( Sold-Out along time ago ) is french Doom-Stoner band Aqua Nebulla Oscillator , This guys are heavy , the sound is messy but the music is really heavy and psyche : Hawkwind meeting the early Queens of the Stone Age. cool

9:00 PM the Dead Weather are playing the first notes of their concert, slow song to start with, maybe not the best to get into a gig.
Jack White is on drums & Vocals, Alison Mosshart ( from The Kills ) on vocals , Jack Lawrence ( from The Raconteurs ) is on bass and Dean Fertita ( From the QOTSA ) on guitar and organ.

I won't tell you anything about the songs as i've never heard anything apart from the single and I've just listen to it before the gig.

With Jack it's not really Chorus + Verse + chorus type of songs, they seem to be destructured , it's working on some and not on others.
It's a Blues orientated band like in the White Stripes but less heavy .

You can feel that it's Jack's new project even though he's on drums for the whole gig apart from one song that he's doing on guitar and vocals ( with Alison ) while Jack Lawrence was on drums .
This guy knows how to rock on guitar , there's no doubt about it.

Jack on guitar for 1 song

Banging !

Alison was like a lion in a cage for the whole gig , Jack L and Dean were more relax.

Short set as they only played for an hour
Alison is Wild

Nice set but I expected it to be better.
We'll see tomorrow as they're playing famous TV show L' Album de la Semaine.

Thank You & Good night

Simone White
& Jeanne Madic @ Oliver Peel session # 9
Somewhere in Paris june 27th 2009

Jeanne

Only 2 days after the last Oliver Peel session with Milk & Fruit Juice and Tada Tata, we all gathered to attend Jeanne and Simone White 's performances for the Oliver Peel session # 9.
First to play is Jeanne , she did several instrumental "tracks" on accordion then one with her emotional frail high voice. Note that her accordion sounds nothing like a normal accordion, just image you're alone in the country side lost in a blanket of fog and you'll get the idea of what it sounds like.
Complete setlist ( and PICS ) On Oliver Peel 's blog.

Simone White

Then Simone White took the stage , I've been to many Oliver Peel sessions with many folk artists most of'em were good but this time, I have to say that Simone 's songs and quality vocals are first league. Alela Diane should worry.
There's a maturity in her compositions and her voice is subtle.
We were lucky to be treated with quite a long set, playing songs from her records , she has a second album out shortly.
Check her Myspace to hear her songs , I've discover a gold nugget tonight.
We should hear about her very soon, Rolling stone Germany has nothing but praise for her cd.

I have never seen that publicity before watch this and hear this , it's Simone White's song.

The Fleshtones @ Nouveau Casino Paris June 26th 2009

Fleshtones @ Nouveau Casino
Paris June 26th 2009

After two sold-out show at the Mécanique Ondulatoire in January of this year ( Show 1 , Show 2 Click on links for Pics & Reviews ) which were fantastic.
The Fleshtones are playing tonight @ the Nouveau Casino, unfortunately we had to wait a couple of friends so we couldn't see support band Kool Clebs.
Fleshtones with their Psyche-surf-garage are burning down the house once again.
The singer's mad , dancing , jumping, screaming and visiting the audience down in the pit.

Lots of fuzz guitar , grooving bass and kicking ass drums.
Songs are played one after another no time to hang around.
As you can see on the pictures the whole band came many times down in the pit to play their songs in front of their fans.
They invited on stage a couple of people including a young girl who 'played ' bass.

The setlist above is inaccurate as they've changed it and added a few songs.
Great set once again , these guys are having fun entertaining us and so we had.

Tada Tata + Milk & Fruit juice @ Oliver Peel session # 8
Somewhere near the Eiffel Tower June 25th 2009

The beautiful people & Milk ( or is he Fruit juice ? )

Oliver Peel & Cécile are welcoming us tonight for an unusual Thursday night-Oliver-Peel session.
Some very good home made pizzas , cupcakes ( home made by Mathilde ) and macarons plus lots of rosé but not only as ...
The first band on stage is French pop-folkies Milk & Fruit Juice ,once again it's hot as hell in here ( they're doing a competition with the Bataclan for the hottest club ) but we're lucky to be treated with some refreshing pop-folk mainly played on Ukulele with a little help from their friends on guitar, percussion and backing vocals.
Don't ask me who's Milk and who's Fruit Juice , I haven't figure it out yet.
The fruit-juices or the Milkies ?

This Oliver Peel session #8 started very late as the girls from Sweden Tada Tata were stuck in the traffic.
Tada Tàtà played around 11 PM.
Short but very cool set of Electro Pop Folk mostly played on guitar & Ukulele and Music toys with the help of an Ipod for some backgound music operated by the master himself : Oliver.
These funny little Swedish girls are doing fine with some very nice harmony vocals.
They will be playing the Music for Toys Festival on june 28th @ L' international.

Ben Harper, Piers Faccini , Krystle Warren , Yaron Herman , Jarvis Cocker & Just Jack @ " One Shot Not" for Arte
Paris June 24th 2009

Complete setlist ( click on Pics )

TV recording in front of 200+ people , very good set up as there is no stage , the audience is just in front and around the bands playing on the floor, some are sitting down ( in the front ) others are standing up ( in the back ). Most are guests from the production.
Once again the company in charge of the bookings ( Claponline ), fucks things up ... again , far from being the first time , as they called a few people, on the day, who had already booked and confirmed that they won't get tickets as there were too many people already.
What a bunch of assholes , probably that too many of their friends asked for the guestlists. Cunts . Anyway, We at Rockerparis could secure "All Access Wristbands".

First on stage is Ben Harper & Relentless 7 : 4 songs from their rockin' & smokin' new record , very powerfull songs and the sound is REALLY loud .The drummer is a MONSTER. Great
[see our previous reviews of Ben Harper @ La Cigale and Private show for Studio SFR in April ]
Then Piers Faccini ( 3 songs ) much more relax for this Folk singer with African influences .
Krystle Warren did one on her own and another one with Piers Faccini ( they did it twice ).
Jazzman Yaron Herman did 3 songs on piano.
Jarvis Cocker and his band played 2 songs from their brand new cd including the single " Angela" for which the Record Company stole my video recording at Gallerie Chappe for their official video. ( things have been settle down between us ).
Just Jack ended the show with 3 songs of his new cd.

As usual everything went smoothly , guys working there are doing a fantastic job , they change the set up in less than 5 min so you don't have to wait a long time between bands.

Once again for this tv show very good recording.
To be broadcasted in October.

Heaven & Hell + Black Stone Cherry @ Casino de Paris June 23rd 2009

Contact: irockinparis ( @ ) yahoo.fr

Heaven & Hell
+ Black Stone Cherry
@ Casino de Paris June 23rd 2009
Black Stone Cherry
First on stage in a packed Casino de Paris is Black Stone Cherry , lots of wild guitars and heavy Metal clichés. The kind of band Idon't listen to anymore.
Black Sabbath is back in Paris for the first time in 14 years and this line up ( Tony , Geezer, Vinnie & Ronnie ) for the first time in 17 years ( Dehumanizer tour ).
Oh my god , just to think of it , my hair is turning grey. So long ago, it's hard to believe.
Black sabb... sorry Heaven & Hell is one of my favorite band and this particular line up with Ronnie James Dio is my favorite incarnation of Black Sabbath , too bad Bill Ward's not here.
Hard to understand that the show's not sold-out , yesterday they've cancelled the gig in Toulouse : they've only sold 500 tickets out of 3000 .
Anyway, things started nicely with "The Mob Rules" ( Mob rules LP ) then " children of the sea" , couldn't ask for a better start .
The sound is very ( too ) loud with lots of bass , but I'm on Tony's side.
The only thing I can't understand is why we have to endure a Drum solo after just five or six songs into the set, I mean drum solos ... so boring.
Ronnie's voice is great and Tony's guitar licks and riffs are ... HE IS Black Sabbath, NOT Ozzy
Thankfully we didn't get too many songs from the last record which didn't convinced me at all but I didn't get the time to listen to it properly. So ...
There's a screen in the back showing animations or pictures for a few songs and the stage is simple but beautifully decorated. Are they the gates of a graveyard ?
We had a long version of "H & H" with a guitar solo.
And after less than 90 min they're leaving the stage.
Maybe they should play the whole of " country Girl " instead of just a minute before a fantastic and heavy rendition of "Neon Knights" which is closing the set to rousing applauses.

GREAT set , just hope I won't have to wait another 15 years to see them back in Paris
SABBATH RULES !!!

SETLIST :

Piers Faccini + Son of Dave @ La Défense jazz festival Paris June 22nd 2009 12 :00 PM

Piers Faccini & Son of Dave @ La Défense Jazz festival
June 22nd 2009 12:00PM

La Défense Jazz Festival this year with bluesman Son of Dave & Folk singer Piers Faccini.
Very good festival on the Esplanade de la défense just outside Paris. It's free and bands are always good ( when they're coming unlike Solomon Burke last year who cancelled at the eleventh hour, in fact we've been told he was not coming when they announced him on stage so we had his band instead , Bastards ).
Herbie Hancock , Dr John , Buddy Guy , Mick Taylor... all played here.
Early show today at noon with business (wo)men on their lunch break as we are in the business district of Paris.

First on stage is bluesman Son of Dave ,he's on his own , playing harmonica. He's help with some loops he's making live for the rythm. Don't know if it's the right time or place to listen to his rural blues but the guy is funny and making the show.

Then we have Piers Faccini, he opened not so long ago for Ben Harper at La Cigale in Paris ( click to see previous review ) I wasn't really convinced at the time.
With the sun shining and in a very relax atmosphere Piers faccini's folk-rock is perfect.
On his own with an acoustic guitar for the first song things started smoothly then the drummer came in and Piers switched to electric , no wild guitars here but just cool songs.
He's also fluent in french ( so is Son of Dave ) which is helpfull to communicate.
Cool set

Daniel Darc @ Jardins du Palais Royal " Fete de la Musique" June 21st 2009

Daniel Darc @ Fete de La Musique
Jardins du Palais Royal Paris
with Guests Nosfell & Berry

Bands are playing everywhere for the Fete de La Musique in France , hundreds of concerts just in Paris.
We decided to go and see Daniel Darc ( former singer for french band Taxi Girl ) in the beautiful gardens of the Palais Royal in the heart of Paris.
The gig started at 9:00 PM sharp and daniel is playing with only a piano player and a cello player.
You can see that the guy had several lives, all full of excesses and substances. He's a bit of an Icon over here like Serge Gainsbourg.
The voice is far from being perfect he's got problem standing still and is acting funny but it's part of the trip with Daniel.
Most of the songs played tonight were from his solo records , no Taxi Girl.

daniel & Berry

French artist and guitar player Nosfell was invited to play one song: " La romance des cruels " as well as french female singer Berry for an absolutely great version of " La chanson d' Hélene " ( taken from the classic movie " Les Choses de la Vie" with Romy Schneider and Michel Piccoli ). They held each-other like two lovers , the original song is very emotional and tells the story of the end of a relationship between two lovers. Probably the highlight of this concert.
See complete setlist below ( I don't know if it's accurate I'll check )
Daniel Darc also played a couple of covers " My funny valentine" ( a jazz classic )and Lou Reed's " Perfect day " and a few seconds of "Sad song" to end this very dark show.
Nice 90 min gig but the atmosphere was so dark that a few people felt like drowning themselves in the river afterwards.

Sliimy @ Fnac Forum Paris
June 19th 2009

Sliimy ( yes, Sliimy ) the new pop and gay icon was doing a showcase , I was expecting hundreds of sceaming young girls ...and young boys waiting in line to see him.
I though it would be funny to see such a mess in front of the fnac store on a friday afternoon.
In fact no one came there was 20-30 people; I won't tell you WHO drag me here ( Name starts with a M... ).
He played 6-7 songs with his guitar player on acoustic, well it wasn't that bad, the guy is acting funny as if he was playing in " La cage aux folles".
Then he signed cds to people queueing and took pictures.

Sunday is the " Fete de la Musique", usually I don't go out that day but I might to the Palais Royal to see daniel darc.

Marianne Faithfull 2nd show @ Cité de la Musique Paris June 18th 2009

Marianne Faithfull 2nd Show
@ Cité de la Musique Paris june 18th 2009

Back to La Cité de la Musique for Marianne's second gig which is in fact the original ( yesterday's show was added later ).
Same concert as yesterday maybe she changed the order of the songs. She's still stuck behind the mike sometimes looking at the lyrics and still coughing a bit.
The show was as good as yesterday even tough the audience was much more quiet ( French-English actress Charlotte Rampling was here ).
A mix of jazz rock cabaret plus the hits ( see complete setlist below ).

The whole show was video-recorded and can be seen for a month on the Cité de la Musique's website , starting in a few days.

Bye Bye !

Setlist

Before the official footages enjoy "Sister Morphine" :

Marianne Faithfull 1st gig @ Cité de la Musique Paris June 17th 2009 9:30 PM

Marianne Faithfull @ Cité de la Musique
June 17th 2009

Marianne Faithfull , 60's Icon is playing the first show on her " The Easy Come Easy Go Tour 2009". This is also the first of two shows in Paris , She'll be back here tomorrow.
The place is packed but not sold-out , there are still a few tickets left at the Box office for tomorrow as well. It's an all seated event even tough it's a first come first serve.

Many musicians on stage tonight ( 9 ) , the bass player is probably the Musical director as he's nodding to the others for the fade in and fade out.
Marianne is relax stuck behind her mike and looking sometimes at the lyrics on her left side.
I'm not too familiar with the recent material but the songs are going down well with the full band and the orchestration is really nice , rock with a bit of Classical with cello , violin and flute.
She doesn't talk that much between songs but takes the time to thank the audience several times.
See her version of " as tears go by " below ( she hates that song ). We also had "Broken English" , " Lucy jordan" and a geat version of " Sister morphine" all played earlier in the set.
Last song was a slow song with just the guitar player.
very good set , see ya tomorrow.

" As tears go by" :

Madness@ Ciné Aqua Paris June 17th 2009 6:00 PM

MADNESS @ Ciné Aqua Paris
June 17th 2009 6:00 PM
Always smart

Madness is in Paris to promote their new album " The Liberty of Norton Folgate".
they're playing lots of festival this summer , including the Rock en Seine festival at the end of August so it' s a real treat to see them in this conditions.
The Ciné Aqua is a huge aquarium with rare tropical fishes and they sometimes organise parties and concerts there.
John Butler Trio , Archive , Christopher Cross ... all played private gigs in this lovely and tiny place just in front of a huge tank full of fishes.
It holds barely 200 people and I'm seating front row.
Show started the best way with their huge hit " One step beyond" , the guys are having fun and are making funny faces to a group of girls barely 10 years old ,who were visiting the aquarium and have been invited to the gig.
Lightning conditions are very hard as they can't have a big lightshow because of the fishes which are very sensible to light.
A few songs from the new record were played but we were lucky to be treated with a Best of ...of their best songs " Embarassement" , " My Girl", "House of fun" ... ( see complete and corrected setlist below ).
Some fast songs, some more laid back songs a few ska songs , these guys can play everything.
Of course " Our House " went down a storm.
Cool encore with "Madness- Night boat to Cairo"
Great 1 hour+ set
This band must be seen in England with 30 000 drunken English dancing and singing to everysong.
Patrice Guino , our photographer , could get the skull they had on stage at the end.
Lucky bastard !

" Our House" :

Hugh Coltman + La Grande Sophie @ Fnac Forum June 17th 2009

Hugh Coltman + La Grande Sophie ( + Les Wampas )
@ Fnac Forum Paris June 17th 2009

Hugh Coltman

To promote Solidays' Festival next week-end in Paris ( all the money is going to fight AIDS, click on link for full line-up ), 3 artists were invited to play a free acoustic show at the Fnac store in Les Halles.
First on stage @ 4: 00 pm is English singer-songwritter Hugh Coltman , who is now leaving in Paris ( and is fluent in French ).
I knew his name but never heard anything before today , quite a surprise , a very good surprise should I say.
This lad 's got talent , his songs are really emotional and he has an amazing voice . If you can put your hands on one of his cds take it and put it next to Jeff Buckley's cds.
Great !

Video later

La Grande Sophie

Then we had La Grande Sophie , she used to play in an "alternative" French band but she's doing a solo career and is very successfull thanks to a couple of catchy single.
She's now playing some French pop-rock variétés ( she did a duet a few years ago with Lee Hazlewood ).
She's good looking and very tall ( in English " the tall Sophie " ) , the music is nice but too much 'french variété' for me. Maybe that's because she's singing in French.
She seems very nice always smiling and interacting with the audience.

Both artists played 5-6 songs for a 30 min+ set.
The Wampas were next but I had to leave to go to see Madness playing a private show at 6:00 pm @ Ciné Aqua next to the Eiffel Tower.

Anja Plaschg aka Soap & Skin @ C'est Lenoir Black Session # 301
Paris France Inter June 15th 2009

Young Austrian Singer is playing the last Black Session before the summer holidays, I 've never heard anything of her before so it' a complete discovery.
She's playing the piano and is playing backing tapes on her mac.
Some people might say ( including me ) that she's playing a similar music ( and and has the same voice ) as the early Cat Power but more electronic.
The girl is acting funny sometimes.
Cool 45 min + set
The video below is not really representative of what she's playing as it was the only song she's not on the piano and the music is closer to Bjork

Thos Henley @ Oliver Peel session # 7
Paris June 14th 2009

Young English folk singer from Winchester Thos Henley came, on this hot sunday afternoon, with his all female Swedish fan club.
Now we know how to get more girls in the audience for the private Oliver Peel session , Oliver has to invite a young male singer instead of all the female folk singers we had before.
With this Swedish contingent , this Oliver Peel session # 7 is the most popular he ever had , the place is packed and it's hot & sweaty.
Thankfully, our host , Cécile is providing Rosé to cool us down.
Strange to attend such an intimate gig , just two days after seeing the biggest rock'n roll band on earth ( AC/DC ) in front of 76 000 people at the Stade de France.

What's your name babe ?

Usually Thos is also playing the ukulele , not this afternoon , we had a 40 min+ set on acoustic guitar. This young fellow is charming with his angelic voice and his compositions are quite mature for his young age.
Listen to his myspace page to hear what he's capable of and watch our video below.

Charlie Winston @ OUI FM Paris June 11th 2009

Charlie Winston @ OUI FM
Private gig @ 5 : 00 PM , June 11th 2009
Charlie Winston is becoming very famous in France playing to sold-out theatres with an 90% female audience.
Today is no exception for this private radio show in the lobby of OUi FM in Bastille in front of just 50 people. Most of them competition winners.
Only girls and many of them very pretty.
His first single " Like a Hobo " is everywhere on radios ( and here on video ).
His pop-folk-blues is refreshing without being pretentious.
Today he's performing with just one of his musician on harmonica for a good 30 min, playing 7 songs if I remember well , including one with a couple of friends and one with his father on acoustic guitar and vocals.
Very relax atmosphere , the guy seems very nice, communicating with the audience and always smiling.
Cool set.

The Rifles + Louis de Lights @ Nouveau Casino
Paris June 9th 2009

Another day , another show...
I can't tell anything about the support band apart that they're French , good band maybe they need a little more practice.
Too bad, the place was almost empty as they get on the stage , nice lightning though.

Louis De lights

I also cannot tell you anything about The Rifles as a friend invited me at the last minute , I've never heard of them before.
Once again nice lighting for the support band and shitty for the headliner ?!?
Very nice discovery , GREAT band from England ( it's written on their face ), very Mod, they have probably listen to The Jam a lot
As always with English young bands their technic is perfect , they have lots of very catchy songs with cool melodies.
Lots of singalong and dancing among the English crowd.
They made a great impression on me like The rascals did the first time I saw them.

Social Distortion + The Durango Riot @ Bataclan Paris June 8th 2009

Social Distortion + The Durango Riot
@ Bataclan Paris June 8th 2009

First on stage is The Durango Riot a rock- psyche-Punk band from Sweden , as with many Swedish band it's a 100 % rock kick ass band.
The Hives is probably the most famous rock band from Sweden right now , we should hear about this one pretty soon.

The Durango Riot from Sweden
Then headliner Social Distortion is taking the stage by storm in a very packed and sweaty Bataclan.
Lots of rockers tonight many of them with tatoos & Lots of beautiful girls too also with tatoos.
Social Distortion has a very long career they've been Rock'n Roll with a Punk attitude and power then more heavy ( metal ) in the 90's , it seems that now, with the addition of a keyboard-piano player, they tend to be part of the "Americana" but with lots of balls.
Tonight we'll find all of these influences in their songs .
Some are Punk with OooHH and AAaahh to sing along ( Green day and Offspring have made a career with this ) others are more 50's Rock played heavy ( with piano ) but to my surprise lots of songs are ballsy country -rock with Hammond-sounding keyboard à la Deep Purple.

Mike Ness has a very monotonous voice which tends to get on my nerves after half an hour.
Overall good show but it could have been better.

Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band Feat. Gary Rossington @ Paris Zénith June 5th 2009

Lynyrd Skynyrd well sort of...
@ Paris Zénith June 5th 2009

After seeing Neil Young yesterday at the very same place , what's left of a band called Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing in front a little bit more than 2000 people when Neil Young played in front of more than 6000 people.
Who wants to pay between 70 and 80 euros to see a cover band ?
The only original member is Gary Rossington ( the guitar player with the hat ) all the others are dead.
Lynyrd Skynyrd my ass ...

Rickie Medlock ( former Blackfoot ) is on guitar and Johnnie Van Zant, on vocals, is wearing his brother's shoes. Can't tell the name of the others.
What to expect ?

Old songs , old songs and ... old songs , like any other cover bands they're not here to play any new songs nobody gives a damn.
We're here to hear the hits and that's what they're gonna do.
From start to finish Hits , Hits and ...more hits.
Unbelievable how many great songs this band HAD.

SETLIST :
  1. Workin’ for MCA
  2. I Ain’t the One
  3. Saturday Night Special
  4. What’s Your Name
  5. Gimme Back My Bullets
  6. Simple Man
  7. That Smell
  8. Medley :
    • Whiskey Rock-A-Roller
    • Down South Jukin’
    • The Needle and the Spoon
    • Double Trouble
    • Tuesday’s Gone
  9. Gimme Three Steps
  10. Call Me the Breeze
  11. Sweet Home Alabama
  12. Free Bird
Not one song was played that was composed after 1977

They've played all these songs one after another no time for speeches, just 100 % music
The show ended with their anthem "Sweet home Alabama" ( the answer to Neil Young's " Southern man "), it's funny to hear them talking about Neil Young ( " The south doesn't need him around " ).
He was here on the same stage yesterday.
Just one encore and it's a terrific version of " freebird".

Great 90 min show , but how can they called themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd ?

Thanks to Patrice Guino for the pictures , he took'em with a small camera
you can see the difference with Neil Young's

Neil Young @ Paris Zénith June 4th 2009

Neil Young @ Paris Zénith
June 4th 2009

I was too late to see folk artist Laura Marling , too bad iI love what she's doing.

Needless to tell you that Neil Young 's show was hot.
Last year he played two gigs at the Grand Rex and they were fantastic , first part acoustic and second part electric.

This time it's an all electric performance with just a couple of acoustic songs thrown in ( "Heart of gold" , " Old man " , " comes a time" ).
A couple of new songs and ALL the hits " Cortez the killer" , " Like a hurricane" ...

GREAT SHOW
SETLIST :
Love And Only Love / Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) / Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere / Pocahontas / Spirit Road / Cortez The Killer / Cinnamon Girl / Mother Earth / Don't Let It Bring You Down / Goin' Back / Comes A Time / Heart Of Gold / Old Man / Mansion On The Hill / Get Behind The Wheel / Rockin' In The Free World // Like A Hurricane / A Day In The Life

In a sold-out Zénith.

Kasabian @ Football Tournament & Sony Store Paris June 3rd 2009

Kasabian Football Tournament @ Urban Football in Puteaux

Sony music France organised a Football Tournament with the lads just outside Paris in a nice complex.
I was there too late to see Kasabian playing but it almost turned into a complete disaster as the drummer hurt his ankle and had to see a doctor immediately.
Too bad the band is opening tomorrow for Oasis in front of 30 000 people but he should be OK.
Lots of journalists ( Les Inrocks , Rock & Folk ) and record company executives , the winning team was the one from a Football magazine " So Foot" .
Kasabian came back , minus the drummer, to shoot some penalty against the winning team... and lost.
The sponsor was offering a tv set and Marion , photographer for Rock& Folk, won the lot.
Lucky bitch ;-) the tv is probably worth a 1000 quid.
Marion won the lottery

En route to the countryside ?

Then we all left to the George V avenue to the Sony Store where Kasabian signed cds to a 100 fans and then we had an acoustic set in the basement.
The lads were really nice and chatty to everyone.
The atmosphere was really relax and things went smoothly thanks to the organisation.
Really cool to hear these songs in an acoustic form as I wasn't really convinced when they played the new songs a week ago @ L' Album de la semaine for Canal+
Setlist is below for an half an hour set.
