Lou Reed @ Colette store Paris Nov 16th 2009 5:00 PM

Lou Reed lecture & book signing
@ Colette Paris Nov 16th 2009 @ 5:00 PM

Lou Reed is in Paris for a few days promoting a new very good book full of pics and memorabilia on the Velvet Underground.
Colette is a famous hype parisian concept store ( which means they're selling shit you don't need twice the normal price ) not too far from the Ritz hotel in a very rich area.
We're far from downtown Manhattan or the Bowery.

We get there earlier and to my surprise there was almost no one.
People arrived at the last minute and the place was packed with posh people .
We have nice seats in front of him , he's here to read a few of his lyrics like he did last year @ 104 in Paris -click for pics-( It was also for a book released but that was really crap,I mean The book).
Lou Reed is almost on time, No flash please !
Funny how Lou Reed is turning into a grumpy old man always moaning about someone taking a pic or reading his book while he's reading.
He did the reading like a robot as if he didn't give a shit ( he's always like this anyway )but the publisher was satisfied as they've sold lots of books today.

Lou Reed signing the new Velvet Underground book

Then it was time for the signing, everything went smoothly thanks to the people from the store, Lou Reed was chatty with people , you also could seat next to him to have your picture taken.

We had a great 90 min with Lou Reed but it was really funny to see him confronting people directly when he wasn't happy with something :
" Which part of the sentence don't you understand in -No flash-" ?
" Stop taking pictures NOW you've got enough " to the poor guy next to me
" How can you read a book while i'm talking , What am I doing here ? Tell me !" to a poor girl.

3 SOLD-OUT shows @ Bataclan ( 1400 Capacity ) for Gossip.

It's a VERY gay friendly audience, so many girls unfortunately most of 'em are lesbians.

They haven't change these last 2 months.

Same show with probably the same setlist: ( From Oliver Peel )
01: Dimestore Diamond
02: Pop Goes The World
03: 2012
04: Waves
05: Yr Mangled Heart
06: Men In Love
07: Fire /Sign
08: Love Long Distance
09: 8th Wonder

11: Yesterday's News
12: Heavy Cross

13: What's Love Got To Do With It (Tina Turner Cover)
14: Standing In The Way Of Control
15: We Are the Champions (Queen Cover)

We're all sweating like pigs it's so hot in here almost like in summer time ( The Bataclan is famous for having no AC at all ). She dropped her dressed mid-show. ( See video below )

Beth is talking a lot to the audience , giving away lots of bottles of water , the audience in the pit is really into it singing and dancing. Nice atmosphere.
Lots of press too as there are several cameras recording the whole show from the mixing desk.

Beth went to sing into the pit, going to the back of the venue to the bar and return.
Short gig ( 70 min ? ) but it was as hot as hell.

Francis Ford Coppola Master Class @ Fnac Montparnasse Paris nov 13th 2009

Master Class with Francis Ford Coppola
@ Fnac Montparnasse Paris Nov 13th 2009

AWESOME !!!
Francis Ford Coppola
is in Paris to promote his new movie TETRO.
A couple of days ago he did a master Class @ Forum des Images, yesterday he presented Tetro @ Max Linder movie theatre ( He was there 5 min ) & tonight he's doing a Master Class @ Fnac Store.
We could secure a few tickets , have nice seats down the front.
8:20 Pm the Master is entering the Fnac store for a Question & Answer.
First he took questions from a girl from France Inter radio then from people in the audience.
He talked about everything : his new movie & and how to cut production costs ( he did it in Argentina because it's cheaper , he's the producer ) , Apocalypse Now ( a great war movie to make lots of money to do art films with the money afterwards ) , How he started ( HERE on video ) and many other things I don't remember right now.
SOOOOOooo interesting , the guy is so cool and relax.
We spent more than an hour with him and it was really fantastic.
The whole video will be online on the Fnac store website shortly, I advice you to have a look there for the whole thing ( I'm Waayy to lazy to type it down now ).
At the end he came to shake a few hands to people ( including me , Yo ).
This will be hard to forget.

Morrissey + Doll & the Kicks Zénith Paris Nov 12th 2009

Morrissey + Doll & the kicks
@ Paris Zénith nov 12th 2009

Well,well, well !!!
For once Morrissey is not playing on the same day as the Babyshambles. Good Point.
It's a very small Zénith tonight ( 2500 capacity ) and it's far from being full up , the pit is probably one of the the smallest I have ever seen @ Zénith.
Last time I was here it was full of very sexy teenage girls ( for the Artic Monkeys) tonight it's full of gays in their 30's.

English support band Doll & The Kicks did a nice job even if they sounded a bit too much like No Doubt.

During the intervall we had some nice video-clips on the huge screen including some live footages from The New York Dolls and a very funny Lou Reed interview ( circa 74 ? ).

Then it's time for the diva Queen Morrissey to take the stage, remember what happened a few days ago in Liverpool ? where he stopped the show after only two songs because he received a plastic bottle on his head. Two minders are watching over him as soon as he gets near the audience.

He opened the set with " This Charming Man" from the new record, Matt Walker ( ex- Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage ) still on drums.
The audience is dead down the front , really strange atmosphere.
Morrissey can't stop playing with the wire of his mike, it's annoying in the end.
Songs are played one after another and even though he communicates with the audience there's something missing, there's no passion.
" Irish blood English heart" woke everybody up. It was time
He threw his last shirt for the evening ( a purple one , after the black & the blue ) into the audience , it almost landed on my head , the girl next to me gave me a piece of it( smelling perfume ).

I've seen him a few times and this one was just average maybe it was the dead audience.
