Manic Street Preachers is doing a secret gig tonight ( August 5 ) to launch their brand new cd " postcards from a young man".
It's not really a secret as I can tell you that the show will take place in a very small club : The Hammersmith Mens Society.
Bus stop: Hammersmith bridge (North side).You should see the club from the bus stop, it has a red painted wood wall.

Tony Iommi & Geezer Butler from Heaven & Hell or Black Sabbath ???

OZZY Osbourne was @ KNAC radio yesterday talking about a few things including a "very probable" reunion of the classic BLACK SABBATH line-up feat. Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler & Bill Ward.
The funny thing is that he said that they would "very very" probably record new material to do " the ultimate SABBATH record" and then go on tour.

Hard to believe, he can't barely walk on stage and he's planning a year and a half tour to promote his new album "Scream".
So if it ever happens it won't be before 2012
You have to remember that they tried to do a record ten years ago and it was shelved.

He also had some very kind words for the late Ronnie James Dio.

We shall see...

Tyler has confirmed that he will be a judge for "American Idol".
Perry was furious: "I found out on the Internet like the rest of the world" he told the Boston Herald.
"There was an AEROSMITH afterparty at Studio 54 after the Vegas show — which none of us in the band knew anything about — and he said some stuff there. I mean, this is no small thing."
"I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn't tell me about this," Perry told BostonHerald.com. "Why so secretive? We're told it's a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We'd like to plan our lives, ya know?"
Perry said he confronted Steven in his dressing room before the band’s show Saturday night at the MGM Grand about the “American Idol” buzz. Tyler said he was instructed not to discuss it, said Perry.

It looks like Tyler is loosing it once again... and this time it's not prescription drugs.
It's probably a thing called EGO , remember a few months ago he wanted out and do a solo record among other things.
AEROSMITH threatened to go on tour with another singer... and things cooled down suddenly with a Tour.

Soundgarden to release career spanning retrospective album "Telephantasm" on Sept 27/28

Soundgarden will release their first collection of music since 1996, Telephantasm on September 28th in the US and September 27th internationally. This career-spanning retrospective album includes never-before-heard unreleased track “Black Rain,” taken from the Badmotorfinger recording sessions.

Additionally, on September 28th A&M/UMe will be releasing 3 expanded versions of Telephantasm which will include a double-disc with 12 additional tracks, 5 of which are previously unreleased, and Soundgarden’s first-ever DVD, featuring 20 videos, 13 of which have never been released, a Deluxe 3-LP Vinyl Edition and an individually numbered Super Deluxe Collector’s Edition. The Super Deluxe Collector’s Edition will be available for a limited time and will include 2 CDs, the limited edition DVD, three heavy vinyl discs, a collectible poster, lithos, and much more. These 3 expanded versions will be available at all music retail outlets and on the band’s website.

U2 is back on the road after Bono's back surgery.
They will play their first show on August 6th @ Stadio Olimpico di Torino in Italy.
Yesterday night Italian fans camping outside the gates of the stadium recorded what is supposed to be 2 new songs.

To celebrate their 20th anniversary The Black Crowes are releasing in a few days an acoustic double album ( for the price of only one) featuring 20 of the best songs from their catalogue.

You can listen to the entire album by clicking on the cover above.

The band will go on tour in the USA from August 'till December ending the tour @ The Fillmore East in Frisco with a 6 night stand from December 12 -19 before going on a lengthy hiatus to spend time with their families.
Which means that we won't see them in Europe before a few years. Too bad

The last time they've played a proper show in Paris was @ Olympia in 2001, ROCKERPARIS was lucky to see them performing a private show @ Canal+ on April 8 2008.

AC/DC to release new live album for the Black Ice Tour

A new live album for AC/DC shortly...

Brian Johnson confirmed yesterday at the BBC that there will be a new LIVE album soon, before christmas ???
AC/DC is cashing in and laughing all the way to the bank as the Black Ice Tour was the second most lucrative tour in history ( after the Rolling Stones' ).

Sony signed them a few years ago for a fortune they've only done a studio album ( Black Ice) all the rest were shitty compilation of known songs (the crap from Iron man 2) or so called -unknown- songs (the crap "backtracks").

What about the album with new studio tracks that was supposed to be ready ?

Now we have a new live album with the 20th version of "Highway to hell" or " Back in Black" COOL !

French National TV archive are streaming lots of live music video.
This week the INA is releasing a 20 min live video of footages of Aretha Franklin's concert @ Olympia Theatre in Paris on June 21 1971 featuring the late King Curtis who will be shot down 3 months later in New York.

Every year during mid-july mid-August the Fnac stores with the City of Paris are organizing free rock concerts in order to discover young bands every friday and saturday evening between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
It used to by the river @ Pont de Sully on a very nice spot, they've changed it a couple of years ago to the bigger Parvis de l'Hotel de Ville.
Probably between 5000 and 7000 people.
The Hotel de Ville is the main town hall of Paris, the "legend" is that it's so big that they don't know how many rooms it has ( more than 300 ).
It's also a beautiful spot but less glamour than by the right bank of the river Seine.

We've missed the first two bands Lafayette & Lilly Wood & the Prick ( we already saw them @ La Défense) as we were having an early diner by the river between St Michel & the mighty Notre Dame de Paris.
We arrived just in time to catch... the last song of Lovely Drifter Karen (Blonde girl on Pic above). Can't really judge on one song so check their Myspace for more.

9:00 PM it's time for the main attraction of the evening American band Nada Surf.
There always has been something special between this band & France as the guys are fluent in French as they have study in a French High School.
They also had a couple of hits over here a few years ago ( Both of them on videos here)

Lots of young ladys in the audience and very relax atmosphere, the band can't play over 90db because of the neighbors so for once it's not too loud and the sound is perfect.

Nada Surf has never been a party animal band on a stage but they have some great pop-rock tunes which are really perfect in these conditions ( outdoor , nice weather & summer ).
They have an additional Keyboard & Trumpet player for an extra flavour.
Best of setlist with a couple of covers( They've done an album with only covers recently) including one by Depeche Mode.
Because of time limitations they've just played for an hour with no encore but they've done a very decent set, very enjoyable maybe not the best show i've been to this year but perfect in these lovely conditions.
They ended the set with both their hits( here on video) and " Blankest year".
