Public Image Limited (P.I.L.) @ Cité de la Musique, Paris Oct 23 2013
P.I.L have reformed and are performing their first show in France, when was the last one ?, @ Cité de la Musique, It's sold-out but you can watch it comfortably seated at home as it is broadcasted live on arte tv web.
Buzzcocks are performing tomorrow.
No support band, lots of people still having a drink outside when the band is taking the stage just past 8:00pm.
There's a huge PIL backdrop, John Lydon is center stage still doing some very funny faces all along the show with useless valet Rambo standing up by the side of the stage for the whole show.
It might be a PUNK show to go with the Punk exhibition, that we visited last week for the opening, there are lots of security telling you not to sit down on the stairs, you're not allowed to take pictures and John Lydon doesn't want to see anyone seating down on each side of the stage and behind even on the balcony. Call it Punk ?!?
PIL music is really not our drug of choice, most of the songs sound a bit the same, many of them are very "dance" songs , really not our stuff.
John is cleaning his throat with some alcohol between each song and spitting it out in a plastic basin and blowing his nose on the floor all the time: really gross.
Most of the people seem to be really into it shaking their head in rhythm, not us
Average show.

 setlist

There are days like this... It could have been a nice party out, it turned into a fiasco.
We went there only to see Babyshambles, so we had to endure 3 shitty bands before that:
Alexis and the Brainbow: No interest
La Femme: Complete crap ( up and coming band with rave reviews in the press: What the Fuck !!! between Partenaire Particulier, Les Inconnus & Indochine)
Naive New Beaters: complete crap as well
 Even the buffet was AWFUL
The only moment of joy was this young couple kissing each other on the stairs between bands (pic above)
We waited an hour, to 11:30 to be told that Peter Doherty couldn't be there , with no other explanations
No hard feelings for the promoter and a BIG FUCK YOU to PETER DOHERTY

Deep Purple / Peter Frampton @ Zénith, Paris Oct 20 2013

Deep Purple is back in Paris just after playing the very same zénith arena , this time with a great opening band Peter Frampton. As it's sunday it's an early show meaning that Peter is getting on stage at 6:30, What the Fuck ! So we've missed half of his set. The Sound wasn't loud, didn't need any earplugs but perfect. Peter probably lost a bit of hair but not his subtle guitar playing.
Great instrumental cover version of Soundgarden's "Black Hole sun".
Ending his hour set with "Do You Feel Like We Do". Nice to see veteran bass player Stanley Sheldon.

09. Do You Feel Like We Do

After a short break we have DEEP PURPLE , here to promote their latest album "Now What ?!", I can't tell you that we're great fan of this album, we try and try but we can't get into it.
They opened the show with a new song then "Into the fire"... as usual with Deep Purple the lightning is fantastic, great sound from where we were (down the front). The show is divided in several parts with jams and soli so that Ian Gillan can rest his voice.
You can feel the camaraderie between musicians. Steve Morse is on top form feeding us with numerous soli.
"Perfect Strangers" was once again welcomed with the biggest cheers of the night, well almost, great track.
Great gig once again even though we'd like them to cut out some of the soli or jam.
Strange thing, it's probably the first time ever that we're attending a Deep Purple concert without them playing "Highway Star".
