BNP Paris Bercy Tennis Masters Final Montfils / Soderling
Couldn't miss the Final with French Tennisman Gael Monfils, unfortunately Swedish guy Soderling was way to fast & strong for Montfils today. He drowned for the first set straight away, second set was better but Soderling was one step above him and Montfils lost logically at the tie-break 6-1. Second time in a row that Montfils is losing the final @ Bercy.
Greenpeace was there today again to demonstrate but this time inside Bercy just before the cup ceremony and... just behind us. Security was sharp and fast to kick them out. You can't demonstrate in Tsarkozy land. Anyway it doesn't prevent us from having a few drinks and macarons at the VIP bar afterwards.
Tomorrow there are a few gigs line up:
Maroon 5 @ RTL 2,Private show, we already saw them on Sept 14 playing a private show at the Westin Hotel (click for review) in Paris just before we went to see Guns' N Roses playing a private show @ L'Arc Club (click for review, Pics & videos).
Johnny & Jenny @ L'Album de la Semaine
VV Brown @ Bataclan
Florent Marchet @ C'est Lenoir, Black Session 10:00PM
Paris Bercy Arena is full of cops (well... at least a dozen) as Greenpeace is demonstrating in front of the Arena and giving out flyers to the audience.
After going to so many concerts it's always interesting to see something different, couldn't go this week but couldn't miss the semi-finals with two french tennismen. First is Llodra vs Soderling, good match but Llodra broke down in the last set, too bad but congratulaions , that's his best performance ever on the circuit.
Llodra vs Soderling
Then Monfils vs Federer, it's another level with these two players, the match was great and tough all along the 3 sets. Monfils broke down a bit at the end of the 2nd set and completely at the beginning of the third, he came back miraculously at the end and after a very difficult tie-break won the match.
Monfils vs Federer
Funny to see Federer, this guy doesn't show any emotions, he's a Terminator a cold killing machine but Monfils was the best today.
Federer is wondering what's going on (left) Bye Bye (right)
Your Kid Sister & Narrow Terence @ L'International Paris Nov 11 2010
Your Kid Sister
On this Bank Holiday in France, everything is in slow motion except @ The International where Mon Petit Club is welcoming two bands in front of a packed audience in the basement of the International club in Menilmontant.
First on stage is sexy French-American currently living in Barcelona Maia Vidal aka Your Kid Sister, hard to believe that she was a punk rocker as she's playing accordéon & toy-piano , it sounds a bit like Amélie Poulain's soundtrack by Yann Tiersen. She has a beautiful high & soft voice & she's really cute.
Then headlining are French Rockers Narrow Terence, That's what I call Heavy blues rock between Nirvana's Bleach era and Tom Waits. Just two guys one on guitar and one on drums & vocals. They've just released their second album. Great stuff

The Zénith is packed tonight for Deep Purple , don't know if it's sold-out, I guess it was as you couldn't find an empty seat in the stalls. We get there too late to se the opening band. Lots of new faces in the audience with lots of teenagers down the front so there's a lively atmosphere, don't know in the back. The lightshow , as usual is powerfull and stunning (perfect to take great Pictures).
Don't know why Deep Purple is touring as they don't have any new album to promote, I have to say that they have never been so popular especially in France where they are playing many shows : Rennes, Paris and in December : Strasbourg( Dec 1), Dijon , Troyes, Rouen, Lorient , Toulon, Pau, Limoges, Tours & Lille ( Dec 13).Each time in front of a packed audience.
Ths show is starting with "Highway Star" like in the good old days then we have a rare version of " Hard lovin' Man", this song was the show opener on this tour but not in Paris (?!). The band is having fun , the sound's great, from where we are. Ian Gillan's voice is better and better. As you can see on the setlist below, they're playing all the hits at the beginning of the show then in the middle section we have more recent tunes and then more hits. The band seems to be on auto-pilot but a high class auto-pilot as it is once again a great show.
Well I've never attended a bad or average show by Deep Purple for the last 15 years in fact Steve Morse gave them a kick in the ass, even though their last records were far from being their bests.
SETLIST: (click for videos) Highway Star Hard Lovin' Man Maybe I'm A Leo Strange Kind Of Woman Rapture Of The Deep Silver Tongue Contact Lost When A Blindman Cries The Well-Dressed Guitar Amost Human Lazy No One Came Keyboards Solo Perfect Strangers Space Truckin' Smoke On The Water Going Down / Hush Black Night
GREAT SHOW GUYS
