Jacques Dutronc @ Zénith Paris jan 14th 2010

Jacques Dutronc @ Zénith Paris
Jan 14th 2009

French singer Jacques Dutronc is back on stage for the first time since 1992.
All the shows @ Zénith are sold-out , 5 in a rowbetween the 12th & 16th of jan.
He will be back in Paris for more gigs this summer.
It's the first that we're seeing him on stage.

With Vincent Lindon as a guest on vocals for a song
He's here to play all the hits, all dressed in black including his musicians , black & white stage & lightning.
As cool as ever , strangely enough he's drinking Perrier on stage and not whiskey and he's NOT smoking his trademark cigar.

Famous french session bass player & composer Jannick Top is on ... bass , Erdal Kizilcay (ex David Bowie ) is on guitar, a gorgeous blonde on backing Vocals & flute ( Sophie Braconnier ) & other musicians (couldn't get their name ).

Jacques Dutronc is relax for the whole 90 min gig maybe a bit too much. His speeches between songs are a bit lame anyway songs are speaking for themselves and we had them all:
« Et moi, et moi, et moi », « Qui se soucie de nous », « La fille du père Noël », « L’opportuniste », « J’aime les filles », « Les cactus », « Il est cinq heures, Paris s’éveille », « Les play-boys », «Gentleman cambrioleur » ,"L’hymne à l’amour (moi l’nœud)", « Fais pas ci fais pas ça », « Le plus difficile », « Le petit jardin»,«Merde in France (cacapoum) »
NOT in that order.
The band is rocking with some nice guitar soli, they even introduced one song with some Rolling stones riffs.
Jacques is not doing that much behind the mike leaving the spotlight to the musicians when he's not singing.
The encore consisted of 3 already played songs :« Et moi, et moi, et moi », « La fille du père Noël» & « Les cactus » ( ?!? )
Cool set but it could have been a bit better.

Crack Boum Huuuuu !!!

See Ya

One Shot Not recording with Natalie Merchant, Andrew Roachfoard, Natalie Williams, Lisa Hannigan, Kurt Elling & Jehro Paris Dec 12th 2010

Natalie Merchant, Andrew Roachfoard, Natalie Williams,

, Kurt Elling & Jehro
One Shot Not
Paris Dec 12th 2010
Complete setlist above

Second show of the year 2010 for ROCKERPARIS and it's another Tv Show, this time for French-German tv Arte.
In front of 300 people, several artists are performing a couple of songs one after another, this time there is a House Band so the artists invited are all singers.
No stage as the audience is seating down around the musicians , so it' s a really cool setting.
  • French singer Jehro is the first ( singing in english & Spanish ) a mix of Funk & Acoustic Spanish music , really cool songs and warm voice. Nice set
  • Folk Irish beauty Lisa Hannigan is next ( she played a few years ago with Damien Rice and is now on her own ) she could easily play an Oliver Peel session. Great voice , great songs and really good looking too.
  • English beauty Natalie Williams ( another sexy looking gal) is bewitching us with her soulfull voice & music.
  • Another soul English artist with Andrew Roachford, on his own on the piano for the first song. It's obvious he listened to Stevie Wonder a lot in his youth ... and guess what ? He's doing a Stevie Wonder cover just after.
  • Natalie Merchant ( former 10 000 Maniacs singer ) first song is very soft , second is New Orleans jazz and groovy.
  • Then we have crooner Kurt Elling, it's obvious he listened to Frank Sinatra a lot.
  • Encore is a Motown medley with Roachfoard doing a ... Stevie Wonder cover ( "uptight") while Natalie Merchant is dancing like a maniac backstage followed by Kurt Elling (another Stevie Wonder cover: " Golden Lady") & Natalie Williams ending the set.
I've been to a few One Shot Not recordings and this one is by far the best I've been to.
There's always one or two boring artists but this time they were ALL absolutely great from Folk to Soul to Jazz...
They've made a special show with the House Band as the songs that were played were re-arranged specially for the show with a classical quartet and 4 guys on brass plus rythm section and guitar.

There's another recording tomorrow ( with Gush, Karima Francis, Beat assailant, Corinne Baley Rae.... ) and the day after, not sure if I'll be able to go.
We shall see...

Hindi Zahra @ l' Album de la semaine Canal+ Jan 11th 2010

First gig of 2010 for ROCKERPARIS with World-Folk artist Hindi Zahra @ L' Album de la semaine.

Already saw her a few months ago @ One Shot Not recording in Nov 2009 and opening for Suzanne Vega on june 26th 2007, so I knew what to expect.
After the first 2 slow tempo songs on a reggae rythm I was a bit afraid that the show would be like this all the time but then things started to move a bit more with uptempo songs always with an african "heart" with guitars à la Tinariwen ( from Niger ) or à la music from Mali (homeland of Amadou & Mariam ) but always with a bit of rock.
Really cool set to start the year with.

Tomorrow is the recording of Arte tv show One Shot Not with Natalie Merchant among many other artists.

English Pop/ R&B female singer VV Brown will be playing @ L' Album de la semaine on Jan 18th ( 8:00 Pm )on the same night American indie-rockers Local Natives will be doing a C'est Lenoir Black Session ( 10:00 Pm ).

Favorite Pictures of 2009 Part 2

Part 2 of our selection of Patrice Guino 's Pics from 2009
Click on links for dozen of great Pics , review , setlist & videos

  • AC/DC @ Stade de France in June 2009: once AC/DC put on a great show, Cool Pic by Patrice once again, Angus rocking on the platform during the "Let there be rock" solo.
  • BB King @ Palais des Congres : BB is 81 and still playing gigs around the world, lots of talking between songs but he sure can play ( not like poor Chuck Berry). He always has a funny face on stage , not obvious here.
  • Tina Turner @ Paris Bercy March 16 & 17th & April 29th ( click for dozens of great pics) stunning shows by Tina, She's here on a platform several meters above the audience. Let there be light (Part1 )
  • AC/DC @ Paris Bercy Feb 25th & 27th : Angus on top form here at the first show in Bercy.Favorite Pic of 2009. Let there be Light. ( Part 2 )

  • Tina Turner once again surrounded by the audience in bercy ( Click above for more)

  • Madonna @ Bercy in July : Nice show not really a concert as she's not singing live but she's physically perfectly fit. Great Pic once again she's 'standing' at the end of the catwalk.

  • Anthony & the Johnsons @ Grand Rex in april : His records are great and his voice very emotional, It was a nightmare to take pics as he was in the dark for the whole show. Nice silhouette for this one.
