Paul Anka @ Casino de Paris, Nov 10 2011

Paul Anka @ Casino de Paris, Nov 10 2011

After the Heavy Metal of Metallica & Lou Reed performing 2 songs @ French tv show Taratata, different kind of music with American crooner Paul Anka.
He's only one year younger than Lou Reed but looks 20 years younger.
This guy wrote big hits for Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr even Buddy Holly & Mickael Jackson ("This is it").
He started his career as a teenager in the late 50's and is still active to this day.
Can you believe it ?
The show started nicely with Paul coming from the back of the hall walking through the audience to the stage to the music of one of his biggest hit single "Diana".
He will sing several times during the concert in the middle of the audience as he's always doing.
During this almost two hour show he'll play his own songs, songs he wrote for other artists and a few covers including " Jump" by Van Halen (Here on video) & "Smells like teen spirit" by Nirvana from his record "Rock Swings" which consists of rock covers in a swing way.

The audience is quite older than usual but women are acting like teenagers @ a Peter Doherty's gig.
Lots of welknown songs and catchy tunes, from now and them he's playing quiter songs on piano or on acoustic guitar.
He's also performing a virtual duet with Mickael Jackson and later with Sammy Davis Jr (this time with the video).
For "Times of your life" we have the Kitsch moment with Paul singing this song while pictures of his family (his five daughters and grand-children) are seen on the screen.
He's introducing many songs with a little story about it which is very interesting as he wrote songs for many great artists.
Paul doesn't look his age and seems like a very nice bloke, this almsot two hour concert felt like just an hour.
Just Great !

setlist (not sure if it's accurate as there are songs I don't remember him playing)

Just after Keith Richards confirmed yesterday night that the band are planning to rehearse in a London studio later this month but more likely without Mick Jagger.

I've just been told that The Rolling Stones are planning to play @ Stade de France in Paris in Sept 2012.
Remember where you saw it first.

Lou Reed/Metallica @ Taratata, Paris Nov 09 2011

TO BE BROADCAST ON FRANCE 2 (click for teaser) ON NOV 25

Lou Reed/Metallica
are in Paris to promote the awful "Lulu" , they've played "Jool's Holland" tv show yesterday night in London performing two songs "Iced Honey" & "White Light/White Heat" so I guess these are the songs that will be perform tonight.

A/S @ Taratata

METALLICA/LOU REED @ TARATATA:

After seeing Izia (french singer),new sensation Lana Del Rey, Baxter Dury, Charlie Winston and some other shit.

Metallica/Lou Reed played last, performing two songs: "The View" then Lars, Rob & Lou were interviewed for a few minutes and the band ended the shortest set I have ever seen them performed with "White Light/ White Heat".
We left straight after their performance, Taratata was recording another of its TV show with other artists, James told us that they were only allowed two songs ,they will be playing 6 songs in Germany and 3 songs in Italy.

We know that we attended something REALLY special, a once in a life time event to see Metallica & Lou Reed performing together even though their record "Lulu" is really crap.
Metallica was on top form specially James who's very fit whereas Lou Reed looks 20 years older than his age.
Great performance nevertheless.

The interview is HERE

Lou Reed & Metallica performed live in Cologne, Germany on November 11, 2011 during a live radio broadcast/webcast on 1LIVE radio.

Alice Cooper @ Zénith Part 1, Paris Nov 08 2011

Alice Cooper @ Zénith Part 1, Paris Nov 08 2011
Alice Cooper is in the middle of his French Tour (several shows in France) so it's a small Zénith tonight (3500 capacity) which is quite full.
We arrived at the Zénith just after the support band so we can't talk about it.
The "No more Mr Nice Guy" Tour started months ago and Alice Cooper already played in June @ Montereau near Paris and there's nothing really new this autumn apart from the addition of new female guitar player Orianthi who played with Mickael Jackson just before he died.
Part 2 Here

For the first song "Black Widow" Alice is singing from the top of the stairway, in fact for each song there's something different: costume change or he's holding something different in his hands: Sword, crutch...or snake.
Nice female touch with Orianthi on guitars, she's doing just what is needed.

"Welcome to my nightmare 2" is out for a couple of months but there are no songs performed from the record apart from the single " I'll bite your face off" that was already played months ago before the album was released.
I guess people don't wanna hear any new songs specially if they are not really good and Alice is giving what they want : Hits and more Hits. (see setlist in Part 2)
On this tour we have more obscure songs played like "Clones" (or "Cold Ethyl")
Between some songs the band is showing off for a couple of minutes on its own so that Alice gets his new costume or to get the stage ready for the decapitation or next stage prop.
