Fool's Gold @ C'est Lenoir, Black Session # 310 Paris, Maison de la Radio Feb 1st 2010
Straight after Canal+, we rushed to the Maison de la radio for this Black session. I didn't know what to expect at all, I was invited and when the DJ introduced them as playing Western African Music with a Israeli singing in Hebrew, my first thought was that it's gonna be boring. And I was ... right . The first two songs were OK but after the 3rd I started getting bored to death. I hate that shit. So boring I'm a rocker for fuck's sake ;-)

Another duet with just a drummer & a guitar player-singer, this time they're coming from Belgium. The music is minimalist à laWhite stripes or Black keys. Lots of guitars , cool melodies, that's the Rock'n roll I dig. They've done 7 songs tonight, for this Canal+ TV show, plus 2 they've already done. The White Stripes new movie to be out on DVD soon will be screen @ Grand Rex in Paris on Feb 27th 2010. ( click on links to get tix ) It will be renamed " Under Parisian lights" for the occasion. Tickets are now on sale for 17 Euros.
The movie will be play + videos clips from the White stripes and an interview with director Emmett Malloy and producer Mike Sarkissian will be conducted by journalist Oliver Cachin. Meg & Jack WON'T be there that night
It will be the only screening of the movie in France.

For the people living in Paris France reading ROCKERPARIS , MK2 Haufefeuille ( Latin district) will be playing rock documentaries every wednesday, saturday & sunday starting this week with
Supergroup BLACK COUNTRY featuring Joe Bonamassa on guitar & vocals, Glenn Hughes (Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath ) on bass, Jason Bonham ( Foreigner, Led Zeppelin ) on drums a Derek Sherinian ( Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper ) on keyboards has already recorded 6 songs with producer Kevin Shirley. They will go back in a studio in March and hope to end the sessions by April, for a September release.
In other news: Wolfmother ( scroll down for Paris' show review with Pics & video ) will be supporting KISS on their German Tour Joe Perry confirmed today that they're auditioning singers and that Aerosmith has no intention to stop playing, they will keep on with or without Tyler.
AC/DC will have many songs on the Iron Man 2 soundtrack, in fact it's the new AC/DC record, a compilation for a shitty american blockbuster, Sad sad sad:

First Black session for us in 2010. After seeing Wolfmother yesterday @ Bataclan, It's a complete different sound tonight : no guitars and lots of keyboards for this dance band. Not really the kind of music that we like here at ROCKERPARIS, we've heard nice things about Hot Chip , so the best is to judge Live. Cool band, Yeah it's really a DANCE band , the music is entertaining with some (very) up-tempo songs, it's probably a band you have to see at a festival as the addition of steel drums gives a Carnival flavor to the music but the guys are looking very funny, like your next door college boy. They attract a very 'male' audience.

I guess that tickets prices for concerts are gonna be even more expensive now as these 2 cies have a total monopoly in that field : ticketing, exclusive bookings,promoter,artist management, radios, venues. They have EVERYTHING !!!
WolfMother & The Black Angels @ Bataclan Paris Jan 25th 2010
Sold-out for the WOLFMOTHER @ Bataclan.
First we have Psyche-rock The Black Angels, it's a really cool set very psyche, the time machine has been set to the end of the 60's. Nice response from the audience. Sounds a bit like a better version of the Brian Johnstown Massacre.
For WOLFMOTHER the time machine has been set a decade later , right into the middle of the 70's. Between Black Sabbath- Grand Funk Railroad & AC/DC.
From start to finish, no time to think ; we're on a Harley Davidson riding on the freeway at 120 MPH.
Andrew Stockdale is now the leader ( Dictator ? ) of the band and only original member. Is it still a band ? I doubt so . It's more Andrew & Friends ( well session guys ). Once again Andrew's guitar is covering everything, the second guitar player is almost hidden on the far right and is completely useless as it's impossible to hear him playing a single note.
The guy is funny on stage and is making the show, he has some funny moves and is the only one allowed to walk that stage , the others are staying where they are for the whole gig.
Even though the music is quite simple it is very efficient indeed. The kind of heavy rock to headbang to.
Lots of great riffs from Andrew and rock star attitude, maybe a bit too much. Nice to hear some greasy heavy guitar for more than an hour.

German rockers SCORPIONS give it a day after next Tour, their next & last album will be out in March.

While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.

Joe Perry gave an interview yesterday for QMI Agency and....
AEROSMITH is looking for another singer. Perry says :"We're already getting the word out there. The word's been out there for a while. After my Motley Crue tour, we'll start having some auditions, making some phone calls," "Hopefully, we'll have found a new singer by the summer, and Aerosmith will be able to go back out on the road."
Tyler is NOT out for good , Joe says : "But he has to have leg surgery and foot surgery and it's basically going to take him out of the picture for about a year, year and a half. So, in the meantime, the rest of the band wants to play. And I want to play with the other guys in Aerosmith. So the four of us are just making our plans. We're gonna find somebody to get in there and fill that spot. Just like when Tom was sick -- we got David Hull to come in and play bass. When Brad was sick, we got somebody else to come in and play for him. That's basically how I look at it; we need another singer to fill in."and "I'm ready to write with him( steven), to play on stage with him anytime he's physically ready and wants to do it. But it's really up to him. His doctor says he's gotta have surgery on his legs and his feet and he's gonna be out of the picture for a year."

I arrived at the Maroquinerie for this Inrocks Indie Club way too late to see the first band MGIBTY and just in time to catch the last 2 songs of Lawrence Arabia : Cool Pop-Folk-rock.
I should go more often to folk gigs, the place is packed ... with lots of sexy girls and lots of people that I see almost everytime @ Oliver's for the famous Oliver Peel sessions. I was invited at the last hour so I don't know anything at all about Fanfarlo. So It was a nice surprise they're playing a cool & relax indie -pop-folk with some influences à la Arcade Fire. Mybe they should get better shoes and socks ( see Pic )
