Band of Horses + Lambchop @ Cité de la Musique, Paris July 1st 2013

Band of Horses + Lambchop @ Cité de la Musique, Paris July 1st 2013

Special "Acoustic" performance by Band of Horses tonight @ Cité de la Musique for the DAYS OFF Festival
After The Black Crowes & Bruce Springsteen these last few days,  Couldn't start this week better with two great sets by LAMBCHOP & BAND OF HORSES.

First band on stage is LAMBCHOP, never really heard of them before, so that was a complete discovery: Great songs, acoustic set that is warm and cozy with class, the way they play is a bit jazzy and folk at the same time with some clarinet on some songs to add extra flavor. The acoustic guitar sound is very soft and so is the voice of the singer.
Classy...

Then we have a -Special Acoustic set- by Band of Horses, only for Paris.
Glad to see Band of Horses again after all these years, in 2010 and 2011 we probably attend 5-6 of their gigs including  sets for TV or radios, festivals and headlining show.
They started nicely with 3 voices and a piano then we had several configurations with just an acoustic guitar or piano or with the whole band.
It's more conventional than Lambchop  but their songs are sounding terrific Even on acoustic.
Great set, maybe they could have played longer, only 70 min show.

Otis Taylor + Kellylee Evans @ Esplanade de La Défense, July 1st 2013 ( Noon)

Otis TaylorKellylee Evans @ Esplanade de La Défense, July 1st 2013 ( Noon)

Défense Jazz Festival , Free Festival @ La Défense , just outside Paris. Early start as the support band Kellylee Evans, a Canadian Female singer is playing at noon.
Cool 45 min set of Jazz/Soul Music

Kellylee Evans + Otis Taylor & Violonist

After a short intermission  we have Blues guitar player Otis Taylor
The show is starting very slowly with a couple of very slow song that are sounding a bit like Tony Joe White, he has a very low tone voice. This is a relaxed affair with Otis telling his musicians when to play or stop, he's getting the people to stand up by playing harmonica in the middle of the audience.
Then things a getting more heavier, I'm surprised that he's not taking any lead on the guitar leaving it to his guitar player.
Nice bluesy 70 min set.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band @ Stade de France, Paris June 29 2013

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band @ Stade de France, Paris June 29 2013
Once again Bruce Springsteen proved that he's The Boss: it started very early, as the Stade de France is half empty, with a 3 song solo acoustic set around 6:00pm.

Last year BRUCE played two shows @ Paris Bercy on July 04th (Part 2) and July 5th (Part 2) [click for review with lots of Pics & videos] that were the highlights of the year.

Very long intermission with nothing to do, we're in the golden pit, until 7:45 when Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band are getting on the stage to play the first song "Badlands" of this 3hour+ show.

What to say ? Tight band, whatever the song played, we had a request " Lucille" first played on this Tour. Great showmanship by Bruce. Fantastic songs...all is said.
He might be playing a stadium it feels as if we were attending a show in a club thanks to great communication not only with the band but also with the audience. Lots of interaction, he's coming down the front very often, shaking hands, even signing a kid's arm and as always at his shows getting several people on stage to dance , sing or play the guitar.(see video below).
At everyshow on this tour he's playing an album in its entirety: tonight we have "Born in The Usa", great choice.
For "Born to Run" Elliott Murphy (and son) are joining in.
Show ended with "American Land" before Bruce came back on his own on acoustic guitar for "Thunder Road".
