Charlie Watts @ Duc des Lombards
We thought we could sneak in for the soundcheck but those bastards didn't let us in , so we only have a couple of pics when Charlie arrived at the venue.
I don't know if we'll be able to go this week.

Jane's Addiction has parted ways with Duff McKagan

Duff McKagan is no longer in Jane's Addiction , they've parted ways.
Perry posted this on his twitter : "Jane's wishes Duff much luck with his band Loaded. What a fun time we all had working together. Look out for his record and tour this fall."

"Hey we wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record," the band said via email. "We love the songs we worked on with him -- and the gigs were a blast -- but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best."

Jim Jones Revue @ L' Album de la Semaine
Canal+ Paris Sept 6 2010

The Jim Jones Revue have a new album out today (" Burning your house down") and they're playing Canal+ tv show L' Album de la Semaine to promote it.
We already saw them here in January 2009 at this very same place , just read what we were saying about them at the time : "They are greasy & sleazy and really rocking , i mean reaalllly rocking.
Dressed up like 50's rockers, they're playing a heavy rock very 50's orientated
The singer is also playing the lead guitar and is screaming like a maniac. They have a piano that keeps their heavy rock swinging ( The Killer would be proud )."
Nothing to add, another great show by these english rockers, the singer's a great showman.
Don't miss them if they're playing in your town, these motherfuckers are ROCKING !!!!

John Cale playing " Paris 1919" @ Salle pleyel, Paris Sept 5 2010

John Cale "When Past and Future collide"
@ Salle Pleyel playing "Paris 1919" Paris Sept 5 2010
John Cale here on guitar & setlist

It was hard to decide to be locked in a concert hall tonight as 1) the weather was so sunny today 2) it was probably the last day with sunshine before a week of clouds & rain.
Could we miss John Cale playing his masterpieace " Paris 1919" ?
No.
Well in fact nearly as a friend of mine arrived sooo late ( I won't mention his name, I'm NOT that kind of man but ...his name starts with an -O- and ends with -Liver Peel- ) that we missed most of the first set.
Yes, when it is written 8:00 PM on the ticket , the show starts at 8:00 PM sharp @ Salle Pleyel.
Too bad it was during the first set that John Cale is playing "Paris 1919" so i won't tell you that much about it but I'm sure it was good.
The Sound was neat with the orchestra ( Orchestre national d’Ile-de-France dirigé par Christophe Mangou )backing the band ( Guitar bass, drums ) & John on keys.

Then it's time for an intermission and John is playing rockier songs ( he's on guitar for most of the second set). He still has a beautiful and power voice, he doesn't communicate that much apart from the usual "Thank you".
Heavy ending with a very long version of "Pablo Picasso".
Cool sets even though I'm not too familiar with his repertoire.

PollyAnna & Boo Hoo + Friends @ Oliver Peel Session, Paris Sept 4 2010

Pollyanna + Boo Hoo & friends @ Oliver Peel Session
Paris Sept 4 2010

First Oliver Peel session for the new season , even though everybody's back from holiday , Oliver & Cécile are having a laid back session. The weather's still sunny and hot but thankfully it's not overcrowded.
First is French baby girl Pollyanna for some ... folk music in front of a dedicated audience.
Acoustic , a couple of songs on the banjo and in the end a little help from her fiends on guitar and violin.
Here on video:

Sorry for the lousy recording.
Part of the audience, Pollyanna seems happy with her performance & part of the food ( bottles out of Pic )

Then we have German duet Boo Hoo for some more folk music. Mostly the man alone on vocals & guitar with some help on vocals by his German lady and a bit of keyboards for the finale.
Entertaining once again: cool music and some funny lyrics too.
Sorry no video

some of the beauties of tonight's session from Germany, Denmark, UK... and France

As we couldn't get enough, we had an aftershow party with the chosen few late at night with a couple more songs from Pollyanna ( covering French folk band Malicorne) and some more songs by her friends.
Nice party !
