Lynyrd Skynyrd well sort of...
@ Paris Zénith June 5th 2009
After seeing Neil Young yesterday at the very same place , what's left of a band called Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing in front a little bit more than 2000 people when Neil Young played in front of more than 6000 people.
Who wants to pay between 70 and 80 euros to see a cover band ?
The only original member is Gary Rossington ( the guitar player with the hat ) all the others are dead.
Lynyrd Skynyrd my ass ...
Rickie Medlock ( former
Blackfoot ) is on guitar and
Johnnie Van Zant, on vocals, is wearing his brother's shoes. Can't tell the name of the others.
What to expect ?
Old songs , old songs and ... old songs , like any other cover bands they're not here to play any new songs nobody gives a damn.
We're here to hear the hits and that's what they're gonna do.
From start to finish Hits , Hits and ...more hits.
Unbelievable how many great songs this band HAD.

Not one song was played that was composed after 1977
They've played all these songs one after another no time for speeches, just 100 % music
The show ended with their anthem "Sweet home Alabama" ( the answer to
Neil Young's
" Southern man "), it's funny to hear them talking about
Neil Young (
" The south doesn't need him around " ).
He was here on the same stage yesterday.
Just one encore and it's a terrific version of
" freebird".
Great 90 min show , but how can they called themselves
Lynyrd Skynyrd ?
Thanks to
Patrice Guino for the pictures , he took'em with a small camera
you can see the difference with
Neil Young's
