METALLICA
+ The Kills & Gojira (Part 1) @ Stade de France
Paris May 12 2012
Stade de France

It's the biggest show ever for METALLICA in France, it was sold-out in just 2 days: incredible !!!
First on stage is Gojira : complete crap, the kind of basic heavy Metal band that we hate.
Then we have The Kills, Really wonder what the fuck they are doing here ?!?
The Kills

They've done a killer set with their most heavier and dirtier songs, the last two of three times we saw them we were a bit disappointed , not tonight.
Of course, Metallica fans gave them a hard time but they didn't seem to bother even though Alison told the audience to fuck off in the end.
I guess James Hetfield picked 'em up as , I've been told, he was @ Olympia the last time they've played there.
Alisson Mosshart is getting hairy

Setlist : No Wow/Future Starts Slow/The Heart Is A Beatting Drum/Kissy Kissy/Pull A U/ Black Balloon/Pots and Pans/Fuck The People

A big "Fuck You" to the Stade de France (far right)

Alison on her facebook page:
"Thank you to Metallica for having us open for them at Stade de France. It was a wild and character building experience. Not every day does one get to stand at the foot of 75,000 people and sing... FUCK THE PEOPLE... It was invigorating... like electrocution is invigorating... an experience I will not soon forget. And for those fans in the front 50 rows who gave us the finger the whole set, no hard feelings kids, i'm still laughing. i'm in love with music and all the energies it may inspire. The more madness, the better. There ain't no joy in an easy ride. Bisous, AM"

Great opening with "Hit the Lights"

Part 2 of the show is HERE
with setlist & video

We were in the Snake pit with 300 other Metallica fans
Conditions were perfect, we had enough room and the security was loose, meaning they did not care if you were taking Pics and everybody did.

Great lightshow and sound

The "Black Album" is far from being my favorite but it was nice hearing those songs again, can't remember the last time I've listened to the album.

A killer set by 'Tallica
Lien
74000 metal maniacs tonight according to the french promoter Salomon Hazot

There was a FANTASTIC METALLICA exhibition in the VIP area with hundreds of memorabilia including the poster of the first 'Tallica gig in Paris supporting Venom
It's HERE

Imelda May @ Olympia, Paris May 11 2012

Imelda May @ Olympia, Paris May 11 2012
James Hetfield from Metallica rocking his socks off at the balcony of the Olympia (above)
Sorry, we've been very busy since that day, so here's a short review at last !

Imelda May is getting bigger and bigger, not only her success over here in Paris but also her belly as she's probably 6-7 months pregnant.
Don't know if tonight's show was sold-out but one thing is for sure: it's packed.
We were lucky to see her opening last year for Brian Setzer @ Grand Rex in June 2011 and later in December 2011 @ L'Album de la Semaine tv show for canal+.
Glad that she's so successful considering the music that she's playing: a mix of rockabilly and Jazz for some songs, but it's no surprise : vintage Rock 'n Roll has a huge fan base in France.
James Hetfield from Metallica is watching from the balcony as it seems that he appreciate what he saw like we did as he was clapping his hands and moving his head to the rhythm of the music.
Even though it's rock'n roll there's diversity with some cooler songs very jazzy with some trumpet and Imelda is doing the show, she has a great voice and she knows how to entertain an audience with some funny stage banter between songs.
Very good 90 min set.

The Rustle Of The Stars @ Oliver Peel session, Paris may 10 2012 5:00pm

The Rustle Of The Stars @ "Oliver Peel session" for Le Cargo, Paris May 10 2012 5:00pm
Feat. Frédéric D. Oberland (Farewell Poetry) , Richard Knox (Glissando) with Lidwine (harpe) & Elaine (violon)

Technically It wasn't an Oliver Peel session as it was recorded for The Cargo and it was set up a couple of days ago nevertheless we have one of those bands that Oliver particularly loves.
We're not Avenue Duquesne anymore but next to the Place des Ternes, Oliver & Cécile cannot accommodate as much people as before but the terrace has a stunning view and that's where The Rustle of the Stars is playing this afternoon.

The band played 4-5 long instrumental songs, it's not folk this afternoon but a very "ambiant" and this music would be perfect for an indie movie @ Sundance Fest.
Very cool and relaxed 30 min+ set on this hot & windy afternoon.
The view from the terrace.

The Beach Boys perform new song on "Jimmy fallon"

The Reunited Beach Boys played their brand new single "That's why God made the radio" on American tv show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (May 07)
As you can see/hear, its sounds as if the song was written in the mid-sixties. The backing band is neat (that's Brian Wilson's) and is doing as much vocals as the "original" band.
The Beach Boys started their 50th Anniversary Tour @ Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater Tucson , Arizona on April 24 with a 42 songs set (full setlist here)

Footage of Metallica's first ever performance of "Black Album" @ Prague, Czech Republic on May 07 2012 available

METALLICA performed for the first time ever their "Black Album" it its entirety @ Synot Tip Arena (which is, in fact, a stadium) in Prague, Czech Republic on May 07 2012.
Footage for that performance in now online and ... it's the whole show !!
Enjoy !
