Delgres @ FnacLive Festival, Paris, 03 Juillet 2019

Delgres @ FnacLive Festival, Paris, 03 Juillet 2019
Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville

Un blues assez roots qui sonne bien, en mode créole pour les textes ( il me semble)
Dommage que les morceaux sonnent tous un peu pareil, bâti sur le même schéma musicale.

Nick Oliveri acoustic set @ Truskel, Paris July 21st 2014

Nick Oliveri acoustic set @ Truskel, Paris July 21st 2014

Nick Oliveri former Kyuss & QOTSA bass player is playing a rare solo acoustic show in Paris.
It's a the tiny Truskel where we saw Peter Doherty performed so many times.
It was supposed to be a "guest list" show but in fact it's a "first come , first serve" basis.
We have a support band from Lille that is sounding like QOTSA, so it can't be bad.

Nick is in fine spirit, doing very good, smiling , talking a lot, joking with the audience and screaming like a maniac. The guitar playing is acoustic but he's screaming as if he was playing electric with QOTSA or Mondo Generator in front of 5 000 kids.
it's hot a hell in there, those bastards have turned off the air conditioning and we're all sweating buckets of water.
We are treated with a best of setlist with a new song, songs from Mondo generator, Kyuss, QOTSA of course and some covers including a Ramones' one , a GG Alin and probably a couple of others I can't remember ( one from an English Punk band ). The setlist below is not accurate as he didn't follow it.
Nick has lots of stories to tell between songs, we're glad to know that he will be playing with QOTSA in L.A. for a reunion show on Halloween. Some funny stories involving his wife and how he fucks like a teenager...and so on...always with a big smile on his face.
As you can see on the video below , the audience participation is required... so cool...
Nick ended up exhausted and a bit drunk as well but that was worth it , great kick ass gig

Miraculously after the 90 min show ended the air conditioning was back on...

Buddy Guy @ Olympia, Paris July 03 2014

Buddy Guy + Quinn Sullivan @ Olympia, Paris July 03 2014
Last time Buddy Guy played in Paris was a long time ago @ Parc Floral, on the day that France was playing the final in the world cup vs Italy (and we lost). I think if I remember well that he came back a few years ago playing @ Casino d'Enghien Les Bains outside Paris.
It's a sold-out Olympia theatre tonight, opening band is young, he's 15, guitar virtuoso Quinn Sullivan.
If Buddy chose to have a young kid opening for him for the last year, I guess that the kid might be good, never thought he was so good. Incredible, the kid knows every trick in the book and he can sing too.
People at the Olympia couldn't believe their eyes (read ears) and welcomed him as if he was the main attraction tonight. Fantastic set.
Young guitar virtuoso Quinn Sullivan opening for Buddy Guy : GREAT set

Buddy Guy on top form

After a short break Buddy is introduced on stage and you can see straight from the beginning that he's on Top form, he's walking the stage from one side to the other, the guitar playing is neat, the voice is fine, he's in good spirit playing the part, smiling , joking with the audience.
He's looking 20 years younger, hes' now 76 years old. Hard to believe !!!
Lots of covers, lots of tribute to famous guitar players (Clapton, Hendrix... ) and bluesmen.
A bit of talking between songs but not too much and a lot of fun for everybody.
He's coming down the aisles to pay a visit to the audience for a few minutes (pics below) all in a very friendly atmosphere.
For the last song he's welcoming back young guitar virtuoso Quinn Sullivan and thy both play a song before Buddy starts giving out plectrums to the first rows, which is the end of the concert.
The young kid stays on stage while Buddy has made his way to the backstage area and is playing for a couple of minutes before the houselight went on.
No encore but that's the rule with buddy.
GREAT concert.

Buddy playing in the middle of the audience
Ending the concert with his guest Quinn Sullivan
setlist with songs by Cream, Muddy waters, bb King, Albert King, Little Wilie John, Hendrix...
