Rammstein @ Paris Bercy Dec 9th 2009

Rammstein @ Paris Bercy
2nd show Dec 9th 2009

Dead Babies / Foam

After the radio session with The Budda Cakes , Mathilde and I rushed to the Bercy Arena to catch up Rammstein.
We get there pretty late , the show had already started for 20 min ( around 9:PM ), hard to find 2 empty seats, we were too much on the right ... anyway !
Both shows in Bercy were sold out long ago.
Confettis

Rammstein's music is very german , like a heavy Metal military march , Wermacht style.
The sound is neat , too neat , really wondering if they are not using tapes especially for the vocals, its so perfect, too perfect

Metal shower

The show in itself is stunning , lots of flames , more flames and more flames !!!
Arthur Brown would be proud.
Sometimes the singer is standing up just in front of these flames , how can he handle it , even from our seats we could feel the heat.
Flames...

Cool 2 hour set if you're into this kind of music.
Interesting even if you don't like the music, it's a must see.
Sorry for the lousy Pics
... and more Flames !

Gay Pride ?

Merch, Cool posters !

BB Brunes @ Virgin 17 Trabendo Sessions Paris Dec 8th 2009

BB Brunes @ Virgin 17 Trabendo sessions
Paris Dec 8th 2009

After Revolver we had the first of the class of 20o7-2008: BB Brunes.
They are the only one survivors with The Plastiscines of the Gibus club scene called "baby rockers" a couple of years ago.
All the other bands have been dropped by their label after one record or couldn't get a proper record deal.
Not hard to understand as most of them were crap and a bunch of fucking posers , just hope they fuck as many chicks as they could during their 15 min of fame.
BB Brunes are by far the best band of all this scene and they really deserve their success with sold out shows all over france and record selling like hot cakes.
They've just released a new cd and the first 2 singles that you could hear on the radio are really good.
They sing in French ( beurk ) but don't have stupid lyrics like most of the other French singing rock bands. Good point.
Technically they are also way above the others and are not posers ( well not too much ).

They have a really good rythm section ( That bass sound !!! ) , the singer has sometimes a weak voice but he's also playing rythm guitar.
They know how to hold a stage without doing too much maybe they should communicate a bit more.
As it was recorded for a tv show the sound was neat.

see detail setlist for the songs they've played tonight

They ended their set with the Artic Monkeys' " I bet you look good on the dance floor" with a stage invasion from the underage girls.
Very nice set for what it is probably the best up and coming French rock band.

Artic Monkeys' "I bet you look good on the dancefloor" :

Revolver @ Virgin 17 Trabendo Sessions Paris Dec 8th 2009

Revolver @ Virgin 17 Trabendo Sessions
Studio 101 Paris Dec 8th 2009
The Virgin 17 tv show recording called " Trabendo sessions" has moved from the trabendo club to the Plaine St Denis just outside Paris @ Studio 101 ( Next to the Canal+ studio 104 where is recorded L' Album de la Semaine ).
Tonight it's a double bill with French Pop-rock band Revolver and baby rockers BB Brunes.
I'm late and I'm making my way into the studio Revolver is already playing their first song.
The setting is wonderfull ( see Pics ) there's roughly 200 people, so there is lots of space and 99% girls between 14 & 18 years old.
I just know their single which is played on Oui FM, there's a nice hook to this song but after seing them here it's far from being their best song.

They sing in English and are not ridiculous , they're pretty ( really ) good at what they're doing.
At least Froggies have a decent pop-rock band.

Beck & Charlotte Gainsbourg @ L' Album de la Semaine Dec 12th 2009

WORLD EXCLUSIVE !!! LOL

Beck
& Charlotte Gainsbourg will play a private gig for L' Album de la Semaine on saturday Dec 12th 2009.

I don't know about the bookings yet as it's short notice.

It's a real treat as it's the first ever gig for Charlotte Gainsbourg.

They will also both perform live one or two songs @ Canal+ Le Grand Journal on Dec 14th.

L' Album de la semaine is a Canal+ TV show where bands are playing a real concert in front of a selected audience of 200 people.
Usually promoting their new cd which means that they're playing songs from the new album and a couple of hits at the end.
Bands are playing for 40 min but sometimes more like Them Crooked Vultures ( last week : 90 min set ) , REM ( 90 min set last year )...
It's recorded and broadcasted later , one song everyday for a week on Canal+ , the whole show is broadcasted later on Canal+ Décalé.

Norah Jones @ France Inter Studio 104 Paris Dec 7th 2009

Norah Jones @ Radio France Paris
for France Inter studio 104

Billboards in front of Radio France

After going, yesterday to the shittest concert of the year with Devendra Banhart tonight we're going to see another artist playing soft songs : The lovely Norah Jones.

Lots of posh people & guests from France Inter & EMI as it's an invit' only private show in Studio 104 ( 1500 capacity ? ).
This show is broadcasted live on the France Inter radio, in a couple of days it should be in streamin on the website.

Conditions are perfect once again at Radio France ( Black Sessions are also here in a smaller studio ) as we are seated in confortable red sofas like in a movie theatre.

Norah on Wurlitzer

9:00 Pm Norah Jones and her new band is making her way on stage.
Don't expect jazz this time as she's playing lots of songs from her new cd, to be out shortly.
It's much more 'rock'. Well it's pop-rock with some country influences.
First , she's now playing the guitar , she's not that good , only playing simple rythm ( a bit like Madonna) but she's not that bad either.
The voice is ... you know her voice : warm , soft and... strong when it needs too & always a gem.
And she's very sexy in high heels, black dress, red top and short hair.

She's standing up most of the time on guitar or on electric piano playing soft rock mid-tempo songs some a bit country others a bit jazz.

Even when she's seating down at the piano on her own for a couple of " western songs" it's not a grand piano but an upright-piano.
She did two covers ( see complete setlist below ) one by Tom Waits and one by Wilco and she didn't forget to play " come away with me" to the audience delight.

Very good 90 min set.
After show party at the bar upstairs but we didn't go ( in fact we were not invited this time ).
