Pete Doherty Double decker bus ride in Paris March 10th 2009

UPDATED : March 11th with new pics and videos

Ride On

Pete Doherty was supposed to play a private gig in a double decker bus at 1 pm , once again this publicity stunt for the released of his solo cd was CANCELLED at the eleventh hour.

In fact NO , we had a phone call from the record company who made everything possible to get Peter , so we picked him up at 7:30 Pm with the bus directly at his hotel and we ( 15 competition winners + Pete 's friends ) headed for the Bataclan.
We ( i mean Mathilde , Candice and myself ) were sitting on the upper deck first row down the front just next to him , how cool is that !
We were given posters and tee-shirt but no cd , it's not out yet .
It was funny to see Pete having his new solo cd in his hands for the very first time , he looked at the cd and the booklet carefully.

One beer for the road

Everyone could get his things signed , took pics with him , had a chat and then he took his guitar and played us several songs, taking requests ( setlist soon ) until we arrived at the Bataclan 40 minutes later.

SETLIST : (click on songs to see videos , thanks to candice for filming )

Nice 5 songs set by Adam Ficek. He was welcome by the audience
Then we had Alan Wass & friend , they just played a few songs on acoustic guitar , it was a bit of a mess but i liked it.
Both of these guys are just assholes , we were backstage after the show and they were completely pissed and were kicked out of the backstage ( don't know the reason ) by the manager. Lots of tension because of this two dickheads. Nearly a fist fight.

Great set by Pete , lots of people on stage : Pete + Adam & Drew , 2 keyboard players , 3 classical musicians + Graham Coxon on guitar & Miss Allison on vocals for one song.
Nice combination of full band songs and acoustic numbers with Pete on his own.
Graham seemed sometimes a bit lost in all of this but nevertheless did some great guitar licks à la Jeff beck.
Lots of slow or medium tempo songs ( i'm not familiar with the new songs ) except for the last one " Time is for Heroes " the fastest song of the night , here on video
ENJOY !!!

Very cool 30 min+ show with Adam in this lovely bar ( Pop' in ), lots of beautiful girls tonight.
Nice atmosphere everybody is very relax including the Staff ( quite a change compare to those assholes from the Truskel ).
Adam is one of the nicest musicians i have ever met , be sure to get to the Bataclan early tomorrow to hear him play.

Adam will be opening for Pete Doherty @ Bataclan on March 9th and 10th.
He will also play a showcase at Gibert Music store ( Boulevard St Michel ) at 5 PM on the 11th .

Sisters of Mercy @ Bataclan Paris March 7th 2009

I just went to the gig out of curiosity as i don't really know anything about this band.
Just think of the heaviest and darkest early-The Cure song and you'll guess what kind of music they're playing.
First surprise : it's sold-out & the audience is VERY different from the one i've met this afternoon at the Charlie Winston showcase, instead of the 98% teenage girls, we have here a 70% male audience in their late thirties ALL dressed in Black.
The show hasn't started yet that i've never seen so much dry ice on a stage anywhere . It is hard to see the musicians on the first song and all along the concert.
There is so much smoke at the end of the show that it's also difficult to see the audience on the other side of the Bataclan.
The music is enjoyable even though it is very dark but the sound is too perfect and i'm wondering if they're not using tapes for the music and even for some vocals ( Backing vocals are obviously NOT live ).
Photographers are only allowed one song , I 'd like to see their pics, the dry ice is everywhere
The songs sounded a bit the same but the audience seemed to be really INTO it.

Here's a review from their show in Koln Germany from Oliver Peel with setlist & pics
