Alice Cooper @ Hellfest in Clisson, June 19 2010

Alice Cooper @ Hellfest in Clisson
June 19 2010 11:35 PM

The legendary ALICE COOPER is headlining this second day of the Hellfest.
Unlike Twisted Sister which were playing this afternoon Alice Cooper is still releasing new albums every two years & like many "old" artists the audience just wanna hear the old favorites

Alice Cooper is putting a great show as always with lots of stage props : Gallows pole, Guillotine, huge serynge ....
Hes' cut into pieces, decapitated, hang, shot but he's always winning in the end.
It's a best of setlist with a couple of new songs (from "Theatre of death" ?) thrown in.

I thought his voice was a bit weak from time to time.
Once again he has new musicians with him and they are perfect
Great gig.

Twisted Sister @ Hellfest in Clisson
June 19 2010 8:50 PM

Jay Jay French & Marco Mendoza

As we arrived on the site 3 members from American band Twisted Sister were doing a signing session, lots of fans were queueing as it's probably the first time ever that they're seeing them face to face.
I was expecting a lot from TWISTED SISTER , we never saw them on a stage before as the last time they've played in France was in 1986 @ Casino de Paris.
Eddie Ojeda & Girl

They started the show with " Come out and play" which was the most recent song they've played tonight. They're acting like all those Classic Rock bands with their fame behind them (too bad) , they just give the kids what they want.
What do they want ? Classic songs from the old days

The whole set consisted of classics from the first 3 albums " Under the Blade", "You can't stop Rock'n Roll" and " Stay Hungry".
Don't know why but this band has been under-estimated, they have so many great songs and on a stage Dee Snider is an animal, a great performer with a powerful precense and a powerful voice.

There was only one song I've never heard of, I've been told it was a new one and they've done a touching tribute to a great legend RONNIE JAMES DIO by playing "Long live Rock'n Roll" from Rainbow (here on video).
It's hard to consider them a heavy Metal band they're just a great Rock'N Roll band.
Too bad they were NOT dressed with full gear and make up.
Now they're looking, like in the old days, a gang of (old) bikers.

SETLIST:
01. Come Out and Play
02. The Kids are Back
03. Stay Hungry
04. Captain Howdy
05. You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll
06. The Fire Still Burns
07. We're Not Gonna Take It
08. Long Live Rock 'n' Roll
09. The Price
10. Burn in Hell
11. I Wanna Rock
————————————
12. S.M.F.

They will be back in France to play a Festival in Clermont-Ferrand in August.
Probably the BEST show of the festival.

We have a winner: TWISTED SISTER

Dee Snider( NOT) is in da house with our friend Saddam

SLASH @ Hellfest in Clisson, June 19 2010

SLASH @ Hellfest in Clisson
June 19 2010 6:50 PM
Hellfest !!! ROCKERPARIS is coming !
First time we were going to this HEAVY METAL festival , there are hundreds of bands playing, We don't really listen to Heavy Metal anymore , it's becoming so ridiculous now but there are still a few bands worth checking, one of them is former GUNS N ROSES axeman SLASH.

We saw him yesterday night at the Stade de France opening for AC/DC. The show was good but not fantastic maybe it was not the best conditions to see him in a stadium in daylight with lots of drunk fat fucks around you.
Today we ( I mean Patrice) had almost the best seat in da house as the little bastard was on stage in front of almost 30 000 people.
We had the same gig as yesterday, a good mix of songs from his career: GNR ("Nightrain", "Rocket Queen", "Paradise city", "Civil War"), Velvet Revolver and from the new album.
Show was OK , Myles Kennedy is good but maybe he should sing GNR songs his own way instead of trying to imitate Axl's voice.

SETLIST ( From Slash France):
1)Ghost
2) Back from cali
3) Night train
4) Rocket Queen
5) suckertrain Blues
6) Nothing to say
7) By the sword
8) Civil war
9) Slither
10) Sweet Child o' mine
11) Paradise City

Luckily we had VIP treatment and could relax in the VIP section of the festival with bars , cool sofas and tv screen for football fanatics.
We met Mickey Dee from Motorhead who was on the site ( Motorhead was playing the day after) probably doing his "shopping".

Pass sheet and Mikey Dee from Motorhead

"Rocket Queen" From the stage:

Part 2 (click)
The Stade de France is SOLD OUT for AC/DC.
Great to have SLASH back in Paris, Last time he played in Paris was with VELVET REVOLVER a few years ago @ Bataclan ( He will play there on June 20 and it's completely Sold-Out as well) with guest Izzy Stradlin for a couple of songs.
Tonight he's promoting his latest solo album, so we had a few songs from it. Myles Kennedy is doing great on vocals specially with Guns 'N Roses songs ( "Nightrain", "paradise City", "Sweet child'O Mine").
they've also played a couple of songs from Velvet Revolver.
Great set but the new songs are not that good.

AC/DC !!!
What can I tell Ya ???
GREATEST LIVE BAND.
Every year is counting double, Malcom is getting more and more skinny, Angus is loosing more and more hair , Brian 's voice is as shit as ever but LIVE, They just kick ass.
Same setlist, of course.
Another great show
