Slayer's guitarist Jeff Hanneman's scar after surgery

(c) KEVIN WINTER (?)
Scar tissue: impressive !
irockinparis@yahoo.fr

Jeff Hanneman contracted necrotizing fasciitis, likely caused by a spider bite, and has been undergoing surgeries, skin grafts and intense rehab.
Tom Araya on Jeff's disease :"Jeff ended up contracting a bacteria that ate away his flesh on his arm, so they cut open his arm, from his wrist to his shoulder, and they did a skin graft on him, they cleaned up… It was a flesh-eating virus".

The Red Hot Chili Peppers @ La Cigale, Paris Dec 19 2011

The Red Hot Chili Peppers @ Cigale, Paris dec 19 2011

After playing two sold-out shows in October @ Bercy (17 500 Capacity), The Red Hot Chili Peppers are back in Paris , this time to play the tiny Cigale ( 1500 capacity). It's the second time they're playing here, first time was in April 2006 and Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore were watching from the wings of the stage.
Don't need to tell you that it's Sold-out, but it's only competition winners from Orange Mobile phone and NRJ radio on the floor and VIP guests from media, Warner Cie and sponsors at the balcony upstairs.

We chose to be with real fans on the floor to get warm as the weather was absolutely horrible all day long: very cold and rainy.
There's a party with free booze and canapés at the nextdoor Boule Noire club before the show.
The band is onstage at 9:05 pm.

Even though we know that we're VERY lucky to be with the happy few, we're not great fans anymore of the RHCP they've done too many shitty records these last 10 years and the last album is probably the worst they've ever done.
Nevertheless when the RHCP are not playing shitty songs they are very entertaining, Flea is always doing his funny faces and funny stage moves, Chad Smith is a great drummer.

Can't say that Anthony is a great singer as he's sometimes singing flat but he's also doing the show.
Luckily the band has some great hit singles to entertain the younger audience and the girls.
They're not jamming too much like they did on their arena tour as it was very boring and useless.
It was a much better gig than the one we saw @ Bercy two months ago and it's always a pleasure to see a stadium rock band playing in a small theatre specially when you're so close to the stage as we were tonight.
Very good 1h50 min show.
Setlist & Pass-sheet

After the show we had a few drinks and some tasty canapés in the vip area @ Boule Noire.
We had our picture taken by the Orange guys in front of the "wall of fame" for the gig, looking forward to see our ugly faces on their website.

Great night out for our last show for 2011

Peter Doherty @ Le Tigre, Paris Dec 17 2011

updated Dec 20 with link to pics from the show and this video below

Peter played yesterday night ( saturday Dec 17) @ Le Tigre club in Paris
Sorry we were NOT there as Boxer rebellion was playing La Maroquinerie

From what we've heard he played around 2:00am for 20 min, wasn't happy as people were making lots of noise (speaking loudly ?) He poured beer over the audience, then broke his guitar on the miror-ball threw it into the audience and left.
Pictures from the show HERE

Peter already played for the 2nd anniversary of this club on Nov 19 and in March (see review here)
We saw him @ Colette briefly on Nov 17 when Marie-Flore played this store.

Coldplay @ Bercy, Paris Dec 14 2011 & Jarvis Cocker @ Agnes B

Vernissage @ Moretti & Moretti @ 6:30 pm

First there is a Vernissage @ Moretti & Moretti Galerie near Bastille with some street artists (Miss Tic, Konny Steding, Jef Aerosol and many others...) who are probably NOT street artists anymore considering the price they are selling their shit. Some good and some very bad but we'll talk about this later... so stay tuned
Jarvis Cocker @ Agnes B @ 7:15 pm

Then we went to the Agnes B store near St Eustache where Jarvis Cocker was doing a reading from his new book, we missed the beginning, it was more crowded than yesterday for Josh T Pearson's acoustic set.
Jarvis then sold a lot of books and people had it signed. We left for Bercy...

And...Coldplay @ Paris Bercy, Dec 14 2011 @ 9: 00pm
Balloons, confettis... Let's Party !

Sold -out Bercy for Coldplay, second time in a couple of months as they've played a theatre show in Paris @ La Cigale on Oct 31.
It's party time @ Paris Bercy as everyone has a wristband that would lit up several times during the set so everyone is waving his hands like maniacs to great effects.
They could have done in with cell phones it would have been more ecological.
They've also used lots of confettis at the beginning of the show and some big balloons.
There's a catwalk that Chris is using several times , the band will play a couple of songs there in the middle of the crowd.

SETLIST:
1) Mylo Xyloto 2) Hurts like Heaven 3) Yellow 4) In my place 5) Major Minus 6) Lost 7) Shiver 8) Violet Hill 9) God puts a smile... 10) The Scientist 11) Up in Flames 12) Up against the world (On B Stage) 13) Politic 14)Viva la vida 15) Charlie Brown 16) Paradise Encore 17) Clocks 18) Fix You 19) Every teardrop...

Entertaining show, you know what we're thinking about the music, the first 2 albums were great then it went from bad to worse.
Considering their stardom and after 5 hit records it's a bit strange that they're only on stage for 95 min.
I guess that was enough for us even though the show was better than expected

Josh T Pearson @ Agnes B store, Paris Dec 12 2011

Josh T Pearson @ Agnes B Store, Paris Dec 12 2011
Agnes B with Rough Trade record store for a week on the first floor of the female store in Rue du Jour just next to the St Eustache Church where we saw Patti Smith performed an acoustic set last month.
Around 50 people to attend Josh's showcase, as usual he's laid back so is the audience, he only performed 3 songs but there are between 7 min and 15 min long.
He took time afterwards to introduced himself to everybody in the room and have a chat with girls.
