OASIS Live @ Paris Bercy March 3rd 2009
Sold-Out show in this 17 000 arena.
The gig started really well with 5 songs in a row , unfortunately the show was plagued with technical problems , the PA was not working . In fact we discover that the right speakers didn't work at all until they started working . Nice !
Then they gave up twice forcing the band to leave the stage for a couple of minutes.
Anyway that was rock' n roll , that's when things are fucking up that it's funny.
Rock bands are so boring nowadays.
Liam is always acting like a wanker , throwing is mike to the ground several times but his voice was fine.
Noel was perfect all along the show.
Liam get a girl on stage for "Supersonic" ( see video below )
I've prefered this gig to the one they've done a few months ago at the tiny Bataclan in Paris.
But nevertheless there's a huge gap between a band like AC/DC, which played 2 shows in Bercy last week, and OASIS.
They look and sound like a ballroom band compare to AC/DC.
Enjoyable gig but it could have better.
We were lucky that it wasn't worse as often with Oasis
Un petit coucou à Tonton Francis ;-)

Pete Doherty @ L' Album de la semaine March 2nd 2009

AC/DC has left Paris on saturday , sunday is a day off for me.
Monday back to rock'n roll with Pete Doherty playing Canal+ TV show : " L' album de la Semaine".

This week with AC/DC will be hard to forget for many reasons, from the day they arrived in Paris ( Feb 23rd ) till the day they left ( Feb 28th ) to go to belgium to play their next show in Antwerpen.

setlist to be completed...

Pete Doherty solo with just an acoustic guitar is always funny to see ( remember the gig @ the Truskel which ended in chaos ) . This time it's more relax , in front of a selected audience of 200+ for Canal+.
He's very smart tonight and here to play his new album Grace/Wastelands ( out next week ) so lots of new songs that i'm hearing for the first time plus a couple of Babyshambles for the encore.
I'll get the setlist right tomorrow.
Very nice set and for once he's playing ( mostly ) in tune and the vocals are right too.
A club gig without the chaos.
So sad he left straight after the gig , no one could meet him.

Past Pete Doherty reviews :
Maroquinerie Nov 2008 ( with videos )
Fete de L' Humanité ( Babyshambles )with videos
Truskel ( part 2 )with video
Truskel ( part 1 )with video

See you tomorrow morning for a radio show with Pete.

The Answer @ Fnac Montparnasse Paris March 2nd 2009

The Answer @ Fnac Montparnasse Paris March 2nd 5:30 PM

After opening for AC/DC in Paris Bercy on both nights, The Answer is playing a free gig at the Fnac store in Paris. I thought they were a bit average in Bercy but in front of a small audience the band is smoking.
I was there late so i've missed the first 3 songs , hope they will be back in a club soon , there are bands that you appreciate more in a sweaty club than in a big arena. The Answer is one of them with their Heavy blues rock.

No Faces reunion ?

From my good friend Ray :
"It now looks certain the Rod Stewart And The Faces reunion tour WILL NOT HAPPEN this year as Rod Stewart is about to announce a UK and Europe Summer 2009 solo tour.Lets hope The Faces shows happen in 2010 or at least play a one off London show at the end of 2009"

Here's an recent interview ( Feb 24th ) with Ian McLagan :
EXPRESS: How did the recent rehearsal reunion of the Faces come about?
MAC: Because I've been working for it for 30 years or more! We had a rehearsal in London in November and it was great. It was just as much fun as it should have been — and as much fun as it always was. And we left with the idea that we would play a gig in London sometime this year. And if it went down well — which I'm sure it would — we would do a short tour. Well, nothing happened and I've never heard from Rod since then. Ronnie, Kenney and I had lunch in London on Wednesday, and Ronnie told me Rod is still keen to do something, but [Rod] really doesn't want to tour. But that may change. If we do one gig or two gigs, then he might get the buzz. He certainly had the buzz when we were rehearsing. He was in great spirits. And if the Faces aren't fun, the faces are fucked!

There are also strong rumours that The Rolling Stones will tour in the USA later this year.
So it's one more for The Faces not to reform this year.
