The famous Bearded Texans are back in Paris for a sold-out show at the 2700 capacity Olympia Theatre in the heart of Paris.
It's a much smaller place than last time they've played over here with The Doobie Brothers opening in 2010 @ Paris Bercy 17 000 capacity arena(click for pics & review).
There's a beautiful and very simple stage , a screen in the back playing the show and some of their most famous videos, two small screens on the sides and one of the most beautiful drum kit I have ever seen.
The band is introduced on the stage like in a movie (see pics above) and the show is starting nicely with "Thunderbird" from Fandango.
You can't go wrong, it's a Best Of setlist with only songs from the old days and just a new one from Mexicali but I guess people are only here for the old stuff. The light is fantastic as always: bright & powerful.
The show is perfect but after seeing them a few times, you can notice that the band is playing the same "routine" with the same stage moves and attitude. They are on auto-pilot. Nevertheless they're giving what their fans want: some neat guitar playing, great songs and some "cool attitude".
Madonna @ Olympia, Paris July 26 2012 or THE BIG RIP-OFF AH AH !!! 276 euros for 45 min ! Madonna fans (right) leaving the Olympia
Madonna Special Club Show At Paris' Olympia To Be Streamed Live Via The Lovelive Youtube Channel This Thursday, July 26th
SETLIST (TBC): Intro :Turning up the hits 1) Turn up the radio 2) Open your heart "7 min speech" 3) Masterpiece Interlude (Justify my love) 4) Vogue 5) Candy shop 6) Human nature 7) Beautiful Killer 8) Je t'aime ... moi non plus (Serge Gainsbourg cover) click for video
Glad we didn't go, she started the set @ 22:45, played two songs, started a 7 min speech, played one song then a 3 min interlude with video and 5 more songs , no goodbye. 45 min set (including the speech)... What a fucking joke ! Angry fans asked for refund, calling her a "Bitch" or screaming out "Shame on you". (video here) This wasn't part of the live broadcast of course.
It seems that this last minute show @ Olympia was just a publicity stunt after the controversy with Marine Lepen but it felt flat as all the press this morning is only talking about angry fans insulting her. It also looks like her fans are only cash cows to that bitch who's charging 260 euros for a 45 min set, even more awful: in order to get tickets with fan club members before the general public for this show you had to get a membership (20 euros). Nice !
Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside @ Parc de Belleville, Paris July 24 2012 7:00pm
We're back for more, we need another shot of Vintage Rock'n Roll with Sallie Ford and her band, once again it's hot & sunny, the place is packed. There's a lively atmosphere with people rocking & dancing. They are playing a pretty long set (75 min) for a band that only has only one album out (+ a EP) specially considering that each song is no longer than 3 min. I guess they've played basically almost the same setlist as yesterday @ Bercy as we've recognized a few songs. Very good set once again.
